Hi friends,
My Wharfedale Di9.5 soft dome tweeters no longer produce any sound. The speakers are connected to my Onkyo TX-NR609 receiver.
Recently, while watching a movie with the volume knob set at -10db, I paused my media player to go to the restroom. Once back, there was foul smell of burnt cables, etc all over the room. I powered off my receiver, media player, tv, etc. and disconnected the power cables from the wall socket. The smell was still there.
I reconnected the cables and continued with the movie. But this time, I realized that my speakers were sounding a big muddy, without even thinking that the soft domes on both sides were now completely cooked. I found out the problem only after playing 2ch audio from the receiver.
Now the question is, is it possible to repair these soft dome tweeters (DIY). I had already replaced them with new ones some time back and they cost me a fortune (approx. Rs. 6400 per pair). Is it possible that the resistors in the crossover network also burnt?
Can somebody recommend online shops (ebay, etc.) where I can get replacement parts for wharfedale speakers. These speakers are made in Shenzhen, China.
Thanks in advance.
