Where to invest

Denon AVRs are available for audition at 5.1 sounds in Nerul -> PB road junction, Navi Mumbai. You can talk to Anup @ 9322673599 and then drop in. He has many Polk, Jamo and KEF speakers also. This is his site . He is not selling Wharfs anymore.

You can drop in at Reliance digital near Vashi stn, they may be having PM6750, they are really good for its money and better than RM705. It goes well with Denon 1612. Denon 1612+Polk RM6750 at 54K is very high, should be possible at less than Rs. 44k if you negotiate well. If you want to audition Yamaha 471, you can come to my place. Yamaha is known for its musical signature, so you can consider that as well. I bought it for Rs. 25k must be lesser now.

Since you have a decent budget, you can look at building components though you cannot complete the setup now. I would suggest to spend your entire budget on AVR, front (floor standers) and centre speaker first, if possible the surrounds also. Later on you can add the sub (Rs. 25k to 30k). Only that can satisfy you for atleast a few years. You can spend more time on this forum to know which speakers you can buy, where and at what cost.

Hey Santy,

How would you describe the sound signature of Yamaha 471, Is it warm or bright ?

Hi flash
I have not had many listening sessions with 471 (for music).

But I can say that it is fairly neutral in pure direct mode. In all other modes the amp is slightly on the brighter side, but only in the upper highs. The high frequencies are thin and soft so it dosen't hurt at high volumes (my speakers are also soft on highs). There is an option called Music enhancer which opens up the sound a bit, makes it more spacious and takes soundstage closer to listening position but only at the cost of a brighter output.

Ah IC

Thanks Santy

Are you talking about the price in gray market? I'm little nervous about gray market and its product authenticity.

Denon 1912 is at Rs/38000 with 1yr warranty, shipping etc. How is the offer? It is in ebay. There is confusion. It is written that it is imported from USA. But few days back I contacted ebay by mail to confirm this. They replied that they don't ship AVR to India:sad:. Not sure which one is right.
Can anyone pl clarify?

Hi all,
After a long time (due to some personal problem) my search has began again. During Nov: my brother is coming from US. So I just want your advice if I want to import a system (not sure HTiB or AVR) from there. Budget is max Rs/-45K (approx:865$).

Parameters:
My room is 12x18ft. Viewing distance will be approx: 10ft, non-dedicated room. Space constraint. Choice for Movies/Music- 70:30, small size speakers preferable. Not having plan to change the system within 5 years.

Can anyone give some good advice?

Thanks in advance.

If he is going to carry in the HTIB from the US .
Then get the Deftech Promedia 600 or 800...... You will not regret it. However this is not a HTIB- its basically a 5.1 that should rock your world at the price point

Source a Denon 1312 or Yamaha 471 or similar from India and that concludes your search

Cheers
