Hi,

I have shortlisted the Denon 3311 and the Cambridge Audio 650R AVRs to go with:

Mordaunt-Short Mezzo series 6 Fronts, Centre and 9 sub-woofer and Cambridge Audio surrounds.

Which of the AVRs is better?

CA matches MS spk well, still a proper Demo to decide will be helpful.

Thanks for the input. The CA AVR, however, does not have radio feature like the Denon. Is that a serious handicapp or one can use some other gadget for the radio?

Do you really listen Radio?Do you really need extra Radio features other than FM?
Many times we go after specifications, spend extra & hardly use them.

The CA 650R is a really awesome receiver. It has the same amplification circuitry as the 640A in each channel, hence the price. Totally worth the money.

i have also heard good things about the ca 650.
can you please tell me the price of the mezzo 6 fronts and this reciever.i am also looking for a similar setup like this with the mezzo 6 and ca 650.
thanks.

1) According to what I read CA is "its own league" and CA amps and products are sonically better
2) You can attach external tuner , if you ant remote facility then may need CA tuner which would be expensive ,again do you need this feature? There are analougue tuners too .( in for sale there is one tape- ana. tuner pair by mine)

have u already purchased the speakers. What is your usage.
I have heard some of the MS subs, wasnt impressed, if you havent already purchased, maybe you can get a better sub for the money.

If music is a significant part of usage, you might be better off with a cheaper AVR, like yammy 667 or denon 1911 or 2311 and get an integrated amplifier for music in the same budget.
whats your budget by the way.

Thank you all for your valuable inputs. Here's my joint reply to all queries:

1. The MS 6 sells for RMP of Rs 76,000 per pair.
2. CA 650R for 82,000.
3. Denon 3311 can be got in Delhi for Rs 75000.

4. Yes, like to listen to FM radio for the vast variety of music that it offers free of cost.

5. Movies/Music 50-50 per cent. I shall look into getting a smaller AVR and a dedicated amplifier for music. Lets see the costing.

6. I will look at another sub-woofer as suggested.

More suggestions are welcome. BTW, I am also looking at installing a projector, probabaly the Panasonic 4000E and a Dlite screen.

Now leaning towards the NAD T 775 AVR and 557 BD instead of the Cambridge Audio 650R and 650 BD. Any views
