Hi

I am looking to buy a set of bookshelf speakers and an amp to connect to my mac. The space is about 12 by 12 ft. I'm looking for some good clear sound within a budget of 25-30K. (Would like to have a tuner as well on the amp.)

Can anyone reccomend what to buy and where in Bangalore I can buy it?

at that budget and room size imo you should go for a pair of bookshelves. brand to look at are the wharfedale diamonds and the usher s520. though not a fan of the bose but the 301's are a good set of speakers. look at a stereo amp - nad, cambridge, marantz, yamaha...

if you want a tuner withe the amp
youll have to get a "stereo reciever"

the marantz SR 4021( the new one is 4023 ) is a decent reciever
used to be avaible for 18k in grey a couple months ago
the 4023 will probably be 24k

the other 18 k you can get a host of speakers ( in no particular order )
MOrdant short Aviano
Tannoy Custom F1
KEf IQ10
PSB image B5
MOnitor Audio BX2 ( older BR2)
kef q100 , q300

i do understand the need for a tuner if you listen to radio
Most however will advice an out and out stereo integrated amp for better musisc and a separate tuner

this however will up your budget and is not required if you listen mostly to radio or you are not a critical listener

Thanks all.....I also saw the Polk audio tsi 200.....so might go for wharfedale or polk.......amp i'm still thinking of what could be best....saw a few denon ones but nothing that fits my budget.......

Please try Cambridge Audiio 350A Amp.

As suggested by other friends in the forum, You should audition Mordaunt Short and Wahrfedale, they will be in your budget.
