I need to buy a laptop for my younger brother who is in engineering college..
budget is around 40k to 50k

features intended:
- durable [should last at least 3 years in student hostel environment :D]
- fast and efficient [core i5, if budget does not permit I may go for core i3 or even AMD]
- good for HD movies and pc games [dedicated graphics card, ATI or NVidia]
- preferably 15 inch screen [14 inch is also OK]
- reliable after sale service

Please pour in your suggestions.. and user experience if you have recently purchased a laptop..

I searched on internet. There are many options.
Dell XPS, Lenovo y560, HP, acer 5742G, MSi cx620 etc

help me choose the best.. :signthankspin:

Dell XPS with 3 Year Complete cover. This warranty will cover accidental damage as well, E.g. if LCD breaks if laptop is dropped.

ACER 5742G

39k ctc.. manish at bhumika..

1gb ati onboard. 4gb

core i5 and 500gb.

hdmi and headset and 1 month internet and ttat photon and few other stuff will get u free.. cpl of days back my friend bought the same.

Blindly go for XPS 15 or 14,these people (i mean dell)give damm good service at your door step, you can check the reviews at anandtech.com.

Had a Thinkpad T60 for work and a 61 at home. Excellent rugged machines. Minimalist design with matte screen is another definite plus. I hear the new T series are also equally good. There is also an XPS M1330 at home among others. Both are really good and can take a lot of beating and extended work.

Cheers.

dell and ibm and lenove are expensive...

dell has got issues with the hinges.. they tend to loose with time and later on if you want it to be replaced when out of warranty there is no seperate part. it has to be replaced along with the lcd of the notebook..

dell vostro is 2k expensive..

320gb compared to 500gb

no gpu compared to 1gb nvidia

win7 basic comapred to win home premium 64bit

3gb compared to 4gb.

Dell quality service and parts door service warrnty worth for paying 5~6k extra ...
