Which one to choose Denon AVR X2300 vs Denon AVR X5200

Hi,
I'm planning to buy Denon AV receiver from US. Currently I could find Denon AVR X2300 for $499 and Denon AVR X5200 for $560.

Denon X5200 is a 9.2 channel 2014 model with Atmos and no DTS:X feature. Where as Denon X2300 is a 7.2 channel 2016 model with both Atmos and DTS:X playback. Could someone suggest which one should I go for?

If you want more action happening on your ceiling speakers, DTS:X is a nice feature to have.

Thanks. Isn't Dolby Atmos sufficient for ceiling speakers?
I'm very new to HT...just curious

Atmos is more subtle, which many people in West like. But people like me who did a lot of effort to install ceiling speakers, like more action happening on those. It is always better to have both in the AVR

Yes... have to get a step down transformer. I think it is not a great deal for me because its almost half the price when compared to India. But, I have to trade of the warranty too.

See if you can get a 230V version of your AVR in the US of A.

It will be more expensive but might be worth it. Or try buying it from UK or Germany where you can solve the voltage problem.

AVRs pull in a lot of power and it is better to have the correct voltage on your AVR.

Just my 2 cents.

This is a tough call.. Denon x5200 has some very good features that x2300 might not match it..

Yes.. True.. Denon x4200 sells for approx 1.4 Lacs, x5200 might be even more..

But this is a very good Analytics between the two regions.. x5200 for 37K in US, while the same in India is 1.5 Lacs +++ hyeah: hyeah: hyeah: hyeah: Never seen a 100K difference for any AVR.. This would be the first i guess..

Anyways Denon x5200 has Audyssey Multi EQ XT32, Sub EQ HT which are very good features..

Since you are willing to risk the likes of warranty, and i think you are from chennai, i would also suggest you to consider buying from Grey market..

Assuming you would be spending abt 45K for AVR + step down transformer in the US, you can easily get Denon x3300 which supports Atmos, DTS:X, has the same x5200 feature of Audyssey Multi EQ XT32, Sub EQ HT of, 230V AVR in chennai Grey market for the same price..

I have just seen OLX ads for Denon x1300 for 40K, so Denon x3300 in all probability would be more, but you should get a fair price..

If you payment is thru cash, you have little more negotiation power..

It is upto you to decide..

Close your eyes and go for Denon x5200. That is almost flagship last year. You cant compare with this years x2300. 37k is an excellent price. Go for it:clapping:

Buy the X5200, if possible X7200WA.... which is my favorite AVR food right now.

Features are temporarily, class and power is permanent. hyeah:

Go for X5200 . 2300 is a newer model.. but 5200 is more powerful ..

I would suggest to compare both from features and technical aspects and decide which avr will fulfill your current requirements...connectivity, usage, performance etc.

Hi, would suggest the 5200 which is a high end model compared to the 2300. The SQ is much better in higher end model compared to the 2200 which is a mid level model

I would go for the 5200 without a doubt, completely different leagues both of them, at the price you're getting the 5200 for, it's a steal, all you need is a really good quality step down transformer and you're set.

USA is the land of deals.

5200 is good. 7200 is superb. I read a review of it in Audioholics and it is a killer.

Once you come to India, you can only dream of the prices that you can get there.

So if you can push the envelope, try to buy the 7200.

5200 will be best compared to 2300 ,when released in 2014,x 5200 was the flagship and you will Audyssey platinum room calibration feature which I believe far superior .The only draw back I found is that x5200 doesn't have DTS X .But don't worry ,Atmos Contents are more than DTS X contents currently. Also by using Dolby surround function still u can make DTS codec audio to go into height channels.( Pseudo effect).

Could seniors please suggest good 5.0 speakers that I can get for 80k. I have the below speakers in mind
1) Wharfedale Diamond 230
2) Sonodyne 3155
3) Elac F5

Elac F5 is over my budget but if it worth spending I might consider. My requirement is 50% music and movies

I have ordered SVS Pb1000 for the subwoofer.

Please keep your choices open.. 80K is a good budget for 5.0 speakers..

Depending on how big/small your room is, choose between BS (or) FS and complete your set-up..
