Hello People,

I am going to buy a plasma tv and would be extremely thankful if you can help me choose among the following.

1. Panasonic TH-42V20

2.LG 50PK550

3. Samsung PS50C650

or do you want me to wait for the new line up of Tvs which are going to be introduced in a couple of months?

I appreciate any kind of suggestions.

Thank you very much.

As far as Plasma's go, Panny is the choice to be with .... I guess new models will be announced in couple of months, the V20 though has earned a good name for itself and its kinda tried n tested model if your need is immediate.

Don't know if you have already bought it but if you haven't then I suggest you go for the bigger screen. Even if V20 PQ is better, the difference in screen size is huge.

Do you think we'll get a special "3rd world edition" replacement for the V20?

Panasonic's lineup for 2011 plasmas didn't indicate any 2D V Series updates. All I can see is VT30. Does that mean no V30?

Hey. I am in a similar boat. Confused between the following and some hints of why each of the option seems attractive -
1. Panny 42V20D
Pro: The best non 3D Plasma one can buy, Full HD
Con: Size takes a hit - the others are 50" options

2. LG 50PJ560
Pro: Extra 8" over the Panny
Con: Only HD Ready. Full HD vs HD Ready for a 40+ screen to be viewed over 10 feet+ distance - is the difference actually visible

3. LG 50PK550
Don't know too much about this model
4. Sammy 50C550
Pro - VFM, Full HD
Con - Not a panny

My main requirement from this screen is 2 fold - HD DTH, PS3.
Since I'm still a noob on this, request for advice...

I am in a similar boat, looking at a 42-50" plasma with a damages cap of 65K. Being a complete noob there are only some basics that i am aware of -
1. Panny 42V20D - the best non 3D budget Plasma. The flip side is 42" vs 50" available in other models with similar pricing
2. LG 50PK550 - VFM plasma. Flip side is it is not a panny
3. LG 50PJ560 - Budget buy. Flip side is it is HD Ready vs Full HD for other models. Honestly I could not make much difference between this and the Samsung 5 series and Panny V20 while watching Star Cricket HD in the showroom (though the settings could be the fallacy)
4. Samsung PSC550 - Not too sure about this, though it looked great

Request some expert advice on this.

If you do not care about the SD content close your eyes and go for either samsung or LG. But these screens are reflective compared to Panny... Panny comes with 3 year warranty and Samsung , LG are one year..... From my experience SD content looked too soft on 50 inch TVs.. Considering more channels being HD'd in future you dont have to worry about it...Also check with JD electronics Vibhav if he still has stock of Samsung 50C6500 models which were sold here in the forum for 67.5k. The best price. Btw all these plasmas consume more power compared to latest leds...

Plasma=Panasonic.....
and Tat too V20

Plasma = A type of flat planel tv.

V20 is not their flagship and definitely not the pinnacle of plasma pic quality given its price, but it is definitely a very good Panasonic plasma model.

we could probably say plasma = Kuro PRO-111FD
