Which soldering iron?

Hi All,

I'm looking at one for regular DIY purpose.
1. Good brands in India? 25-40W should be sufficient? I've read that temperature controlled ones are better (250-450 degrees). Approx prices?
2. What about solder wire? Any good brands or specs to look for?
3. Desoldering gun? Any specific brand?

1. 25-30 w soldron with chisel tip is good enough for most work in audio. You may keep a conical tip handy for finer works. Temperature controlled is nice to have but not needed.

2. I use wbt 4% silver solder. Its expensive compared to others, but is extremely easy to work with.

3. Unless you are working on large joints,need high heat or are really good with your soldering skills, a gun is not recommended.
