will be going in for the new Rethm Saadhanas Version 3

Hi Anilva,

Infact i just spoke to Jacob post yours and iaudios comment. Jacob said it was as fast as the Lowther and more musical with better high frequency extension.

Congrats Prem.
Since you already upgraded transformer, I guess extra speaker driver size would benefit both fq. extension and level. True ???
In the past just for fun I chopped off audio above 30hz of the song 'follow me home' by Dire Straits, I was surprised at the music details present at even lower level. Please do post your impressions, because as the rest of the chain would be same an experienced, practical, first hand review would be great. I think it would be interesting upgrade.
Regards

Thanks Hiten. Why don't you come over and listen to the existing set up at my place and then hear the new Saadhanas and decide for yourself if the upgrade was worth it?

Edit : just saw your new post #21. I think bigger driver size extends low fq. range. rethm people must have worked on higher fq. range also, because last time I read about their speakers (Rethm 2 ??) They had some new shape and geometry on speaker whizzer.
regards

Presently on my Rethm Saadhanas, i cross over at about 50 hz. With the new ones he said i will need to cross over at about 130Hz. This means the new single driver will handle less of the lower frequencies as compared to the Lowther, thus probably allowing it be more linear. Also efficiency of the new speaker has gone up to 100 db from the previous 98 db

Hi Hiten

You are welcome any time. I always believe everyone hears differently so its best that each person form their own opinions. Also people, depending at what stage of the audiophile journey they are in, look for different things

True. I will not call my self audiophile, but I love the journey without the need to reach the destination. All things from cartridges to speakers I find interesting. :)

Oh! I see. Let me understand so mids were given more linearity and since lows would suffer they compensated it with little bigger driver size. Ofcourse mechanically since these are full range speakers. Cool.

Not to denigrate anyone, but what would you expect them to say about a newer model? I am sure and hope it works out for you and you would know what to do if it doesn't.

Cheers.

Enlightening sentence!!! ..true for many other things in life :)

Congrats Prem! Look forward to your listening impression after they have arrived and settled in. Hope it will be the upgrade you expected it to be.

Prem, I asked you that assuming you already got the speakers.

I think hydra here has heard the new Saadhnas and spoke positively about the experience.

Hi anilva

Thanks for the concern. Very difficult to take a call on these things unless one hears them in one's own system. I have taken many blind calls. Most of them have worked. Hope this one works too.

That is one of the most amazing qualities you have Prem!! I dont know how you do it:cool:;)

Thanks everyone. My existing Saadhanas play at a fairly high level. Some members have expressed concern over the new driver Jacob has designed. I do hope the new speakers are superior.

This time i am taking this decision purely on Jacob's word that the new Saadhanas play in a different league. Till date i have never been let down by him. The one thing i really like about Jacob is that at least with me he is brutally honest.

Hi Dr Bass

Over the years i have realised that each system sounds different at different places. I guess there are too many factors. Hence i go more by user opinions, take a call on whether to buy, and then figure out how to make it work at my place. One important thing i have learnt is to be very patient and give the component time to break in before taking a call. Also whenever one changes any component or even a cable, slight adjustments to the speaker position may be required. Many ignore this.

so true prem..and then we also learn from others experiences from forums ..like we do yours :)
One of my take aways from thesee threads is Not do make any judgement in the first 1-2 hours and allow the system as a whole to break'in !
