Yes all F1 races are broadcast in HD and india is no exception,you need ESPN HD to watch it.

ESPN HD is being carried on the platforms of d2h and Reliance platforms right now. Tata Sky has already released advertisements that ESPN HD shall be added to its bouquet before the end of this month.

In my opinion since the launch of HD, Tata Sky is the front runner for sports as most of the sporting events have been broadcast by Tata Sky in HD (including the present India-Eng Series). It is only because of lack of space that Tata Sky has been on the backfoot for ESPN HD and at long last it is going to be added to Tata Sky.

Of course legacy content will be upscaled, i mean current events like F1, Football, Basketball, ect.... And not just for cricket & football or so

ESPN HD and Star Cricket HD are 24 x 7 channels. Others like Neo Cricket HD are event based.

Today i read that Colours HD has added to the list(not checked myself)

ESPN HD was launched several months ago. The question is whether your DTH service provider is going to carry the channel or not. TataSky HD is scheduled to start carrying ESPN HD from October 28th.

I am currently leaning towards getting airtel. But they dont have sports . When I called them.. they are so clueless

I also read in a few posts that airtel service sucks big time as compared to tata, but PQ is apparently really good with airtel - both SD & HD.
Not sure if I am wrong, guys with the connections could maybe confirm on this

Tata Sky says the Indian F1 will be on ESPN with them on the 30th. Hopefully this will be a permanent chanel as they have invited subscriptions.Can someone who has contact with the powers that be at TS please let us know when TS will add more HD chanels ?

Tata SKy is currently starved of transponder space and they can add the ESPN HD only when the Neo HD channel is taken off air. At the max they can broadcast 8 HD channels. You have to wait till the 2nd quarter of next year before TS can add other HD channels.

I presume this is depended on the launch of a new sat by ISRO(?). What about other broadcasters like Airtel & videocon. Do they have transponder space issues?

I am not too sure regarding Airtel & d2h, but it seems that Airtel has some reserve space and d2h is approaching stagnation. I am more interested in TS because the flat I stay in does not have a line of sight to the SE direction. I only can enjoy TS since they have the antenna mounted on the roof.

WTF!! Y still no ESPHD on my tatasky hd??Wasn't it supposed to be on air by 28Oct if I am not wrong!!

Also will it be 24x7 HD or only event based HD?
