Xtreamer Ultra Announcement

What's the advantage of buying a media player for 20K when one can build a customized HTPC easily within that price. A customized HTPC can truly play all format, just by installing supporting codecs.

And more over for this type of device we need to use a media player software with hardware only decoder (DxVA technology) as opposed to our regular software only decoder. I've tested the Zotac , when playing .m2ts files of 30gb in size via KM player/ VLC..... the load goes to the CPU rather than the GPU and the playback shutters. CoreAVC, ffdshow etc are all software only decoder.

Given that this HTPC is built by Xtremaer, I would assume media player would be part of the basic build.

Otherwise, one would have to purchase paid codecs or configure MPCHC to take advantage of ION2.

Xtreamer Ultra doesn't bitstream DTS-HD & TrueHD. Infact the HDMI1.4a is a way to fool people as the device port is not HDMI 1.4a. I dont know what is Xtreamer upto. :S

EPIC FAIL...In this day and age, omission of HD Audio Bitstreaming is a big one. And Xtreamer already has a really bad reputation of backing out of commitments.

^^

Has it been released in the market already? From where you got to know it doesnt bitstream ? Can you post the source please ?

Kittu,

Looking at above news I feel like saying " Thank you " to you to have suggested me to go for HTPC :)

Btw - I got my graphics card and HDMI cable yesterday and will try to upgrade my PC to HTPC on week end :)

Regards,
Naren

I am another buyer contemplating on the media player and suddenly sucked into the HTPC thought.

Can anyone tell me what it would take to convert the PC into HTPC and what all has to be changed?

@ Kittu - Thanks

I bought "Sapphire Radeon HD 5570 - 1 GB DDR3" for about 3.25K INR from US and received it yesterday so yet to install it, bought 600 watts SMPS and 1TB External HDD from Mumbai and I think it should be better than a multimedia card or many multi media cards :)

Got my Onkyo 608 AVR as well, soon placing order for speakers in Mumbai only and the hunt is on for the 1KV step down for my AVR.,.. not finding any value for money isolated step down.. the branded ones are costing 6.5K INR + :( so thinking if i should get one custom made step down from a near by electrical shop !!!

Regards,
Naren
Congrats naren. Which graphics card did u buy ?

HTPC is a little bit work up, but it helps you play around and achive the results you want.

A keypad suggestion here :licklips:

eBay India: Lenovo's Mini Wireless Keyboard N5901 crams a keyboard (item 120676132491 end time 02-Feb-2011 08:00:00 IST)

I recently purchased that Lenovo keyboard and not very happy with the range. Its not even giving me 3 meters range. Also the trackball is very iffy and unwieldy to use. It is not backlit making it difficult to use in dimmed light conditions.

I would suggest you to go for something like Rii Mini Bluetooth KeyBoard instead. It keeps popping up on ebay India often.

Dude!!!! You should have gone for 6XXX series cuz 5XXX series doesn't support HDMI 1.4a. Means no 3D.!!!

4500Rs/- that is little expensive for a keyboard.

Right! And I will go for Microsoft ARC Keyboard and Mouse. I tested both in an electronic shop and fell in love with the quality and performance. The mouse is very very smooth..

Any idea when will the Prodigy be launched.

Also there are plenty of tiny dealextreme keyboards the same one shown in xtreamer website which is company and has a track pad.

Amkette has some slightly bigger keyboard Amkette || Product Page
This one looks like it was ripped of from a laptop Amkette || Product Page

Prodigy will be launched in June.

Checkout Microsoft Arc keyboard. If you like typing on Laptop you gonna love it.
