My Yamaha AVR went into protection mode and the Yamaha service centre said the Digital board went bad. I could only think of rain. I have the AVR connected to TV via eARC and TV is directly connect to TV via another HDMI port on the TV. I also have a BluRay and Apple TV on the AVR. All the other devices were intact and in fact at the time it went bad, the AVR was only on standby - but this was duringthe heavy rains in Chennai.
I have connected the VAR and PowerAmp to a Soundfoundations Powerbase device which is fed power from a Inverter.
I had the similar problem last year too during rains.
Should I go for something like a Furman; should I install a Servo/Static Stabilizer or would a HDMI surge protector be required too?
I am also thinking to run a seperate line from mains to the AV rack bypassing the inverter.
