Yamaha's variants of RX, HTR, Aventage

Could you somebody help me understand the various models in Yamaha's A/V receivers. I'm not able to understand what model type is good for my Home theater setup. My requirement is 80% movies and 20% music.

I have the RXV 1900 it doesn't have the ethernet connection, but produces really good sound and is very flexible when it comes to adjusting different sound parameters.

Aventage series are the best from Yamaha, very refined & neutral sound. Which speakers do you plan to pair with the AVR???

Yosh!!!! Aventage as per m experience is the refined product after serveral other predecessors from Yamaha with the 5th foot as 'Spirovious ' has mentioned and being brought to a more neutral/natural sounding has surely outdone itself as far as I ve read!!!

Yamaha has improved in terms of SQ even with RX series.If I compare 663 to 667,I can say 667 is really natural sounding AVR with no ear fatigue.
663 was more powerful,but has sharp treble.I heard both AVR with Tannoy mercury F series speakers.
With Avantage series,they are particular about selecting basic electronic parts(said to be better than RX-V series).features can be similar.

Most companies have 2 ranges. Sony has ES, Pioneer has Elite, Marantz has KI (now KI Pearl) etc. The more expensive of the 2 ranges usually has an upgraded power supply, some better components (caps, op amps, etc) and things like gold plated terminals. Fair enough, those who pay more expect more. Yamaha's Aventage series is similar.

Off topic but if anyone wants to buy an ultimate reciever they should look over to Yamaha DSP series.

Currently Yamaha DSP-Z11 is available in India and costs INR 4 lakhs.

The Z1 is about 4 lacs, the 3010 is about 1L. At about 1/4 the price of the the 3010 is a good deal.

What is DSP mess around with studio " vision" of sound?

I think technology progressed in 5 years and it has much gone ahead od Dolby Pro Logic in last 25 years!

Definitely RX-A3010 is a very good deal for its price. But, these DSP series are manufactured in Japan and comes with Nichicon Gold Tune Capacitors. These caps are the ultimate and cost 4x times the caps you will find in 3010. Also their built quality is second to none.

Secondly, the pre & power amp section is almighty, 1200VA, EI Core transformer complemented with Nichicon 27,000 uF X 2, 75V power caps. The input fuse to the power amp section is rated at 15A/ 250V. The audio pre-amp section uses a bulk of these capacitors that sums up to 30,000uF.

The DSP-Z11, 11.2 channel reciever is rated at 140 watts X 7 + 50 watts X 4 (Presence channels) at 8 ohms and comes with THX Ultra 2 Certification. Ultra 2 means this amps can handle 3.2 ohm loads with ease!!!

When benchtested by reputed audio publication Z-11 produced a hooping 311 watts @ 0.1 THD @ 1kHz @ 4 ohms with two channels driven and 139 watts @ 0.1 THD @ 1kHz @ 8 ohms with all seven channels driven simultaneously.

In comparision the obquitious NAD T-757 was able to produce just 147 watts @ 0.1 THD @ 1kHz @ 4 ohms two channels driven and only 71 watts @ 0.1 THD @ 1kHz @ 8 ohms with all seven channels driven simultaneously.

DSP series A/V amplifiers are specifically designed to challange separates two times its price, and there performance is primiraly measured in terms of sound quality, features being a secondary aspect.

Some people argue this fact and often compares A/V amps with their never ending feature list leaving the most vital & important factor i.e SQ. For them Yamaha have created the Aventage series.
