yup........many out there think that buying the most expensive equipment might give them the real kick but the fact remains that you need to train your ear to appreciate music even from an old radio set.

Well but with bad output, how can one enjoy even good ears?
If signal output is good with cheap device, then you are right.

well, as long as we are getting technical, you need to train the mind, the ear doesnt do anything on its own, just converts and sends the signal to the brain. And you cant train the ear as the ear muscles are pretty much dead.

hi doors666, did a google search for function of ear muscles and found this-

A Theory of Middle Ear Muscle Function at Moderate Sound Levels -- Simmons and Beatty 138 (3540): 590 -- Science

and

Other possible functions of the middle ear muscles have been proposed, including alterations in the frequency spectrum of an acoustic stimulus, reduction in low frequency harmonics, and stabilization of the ossicular chain. These theories have led to the proposal that the stapedial reflex helps clarify high-frequency verbal recognition by modulating low-frequency sounds that might otherwise mask higher frequency sounds at elevated dB levels. Recent data have shown this not to be the case, as speech perception remains unaffected with or without a stapedial response. But another study looking at patients who had undergone argon laser stapedotomy with preservation of the stapedial tendon compared with patients without tendon preservation demonstrated that patients with tendon preservation showed a tendency to better results in the sound-noise ratio

Just thinking, why should anyone be audiophile? I think as long as one enjoys and get equipment that they enjoy they should be having bliss. Audiophile is such unwanted word and makes one to start thinking only the most expensive ear is audiophile!!!

Who are these Audiophiles ? Buy the best gear that your budget permits and just enjoy music............if you think too much of the equipments then you end up with frustration.........because there is just no end to it........

Audiophile is definitely a different category which sets a person apart from rest of the crowd. Audiophile is related to common people just as a 27000 rupees earphone is related to a 15 rupees earphone. He is a Gem in coal mine. Life with music has different meaning for an audiophile. He is having a different perception of how music emotes him! Pure Audio reproducing equipments are marvel of engineering and only audiophiles can appreciate this phenomenon! Being audiophile is a treasure of which only some are gifted. This does not mean buying most expensive equipment, but a person who is able to bring out the best in music from his/her existing resources is an Audiophile.

Being Audiophile implies Respect for thy ears.
