You know you have too much audio equipment when...

Rajiv,
I think we must start a thread to find out who has the largest collection of audio equipment in one house. I should be in the top 5, so I don't want to start the thread!

Back in mid 90s I bought 2 Sony MD Recorders and 2 Sony ES Series DAT Recorders.........and today both are dead format and it turned out to be a bad investment......

This one's a gem:

I relieved myself of this step in the process of all aspects of life a few years back, traded her for more rewarding interests.

There was a mild verbal confrontation one afternoon when she came into the workshop as i was bondo-ing my just completed A7 cabinets. In short, she ended up issuing an ultimatum that it'd either be "her or those damn speakers"(in retrospect she was f@$#ing nuts, and there was clearly a lot more wrong than just a pair of speakers), i thought the choice was obvious. The VOT's are easier to live with, look better, sound better, and can be put in storage when you become bored with them.

Sir,
You had some great gear;
But I may not agree with your statement ;;
a]
Audio Gear is never purchased for 'investment purposes'
b]
You did derive a lot of pleasure from it from 1995 to 2005 [approx] until other formats took over [so I assume]
Therefore, I always say & believe in it [strongly] that audio is food for the soul, it expands one minds - relaxes & enriches ones consciousness - therefore a price cannot be put on it - just mho...

All the Best !
Buy more audio gear & appreciate / enjoy the music that you have - listen to it is as good a manner as you possibly can;

Invest your money in other asset classes - Gold / Real Estate etc...
[sorry - I do not want to make any suggestions - I just sighted some examples] !!

LOL. I'd like to add the following to the highlighted post: 'or upgraded with the latest reference stuff' :lol:

In that case, you have to tell us what is your "reference stuff" for the other subject being compared with VOTs? :D

Well as with hifi gear, to each his own. ;)

Some like designs with single drivers while some are satisfied with 8" woofers in TL while others want 'Big' full range speakers with 12" woofers. Some swear by Single Ended designs while some want the extra slam of Push-Pull solid state designs.:ohyeah:

LOLZZZZ......Upgrade.....don't you dare :lol:

:D:D:D

You know you have too much audio equipment when...

...your home looks like CES 2013 show.
...your latest acquisition (a Lenco) will get its playtime after 8 days, as you already have 7 turntables which needs occasional running.
...you start worrying six months ahead about where to keep huge speakers you will be getting from your uncle who will be migrating to US.
...your wife who has lost hopes in you starts appreciating your hobby as last resort to salvage the situation.
...you start calling your equipments by pet names.
regards.
