1080p LED Projector for home use

Hello,

I keep hearing more and more about LED projectors for home use. They apparently come with a really long life thanks to the use of LEDs as a replacement to lamps.
Is it worth investing on one for occasional use for watching movies and sports? Can you suggest some entry level options with 1080p capability?

heard of vivitek led H9080FD 1080p some time back which should be close to $12000 which would be around 6L if you can avoid customs..
there would be more in the market if you search, but i dont think any would be less than 10L

the LED one by projectionDesign is a whopping 35000$

IMO investing in LED technology now is like purchasing 1080p LCD TV 2 yrs back when they were priced at 120,000 which now are at 40,000..
So if you can wait for 2yrs the LED prjs will be a common sight..if no and want spend 4 times more cash now then choose very carefully..

There is a new model from LG which costs around 4L but it hasn't been launched in India yet, this product was unveiled in the CES. Wait for another 3 months for this product to be launched in Indian market too. The Led Lamp life is close to 30000 hours and the contrast ratio is 100000:1. Thanks everyone. Guess it makes sense to wait.
But how effective are these micro projectors like the ones from 3M? worth investing in for an year or two?
