My parents are returning from US at the end of October. I was planning to get some 240V amplifiers from US ordering on audiogon. Suddenly, I realized that there is labor day sale happening and found a few interesting deals:
the older Marantz SR5011 at an unbelievable price of $450. So, I am tempted to get this.
Also, Denon X4300H available at $799 ~51000
Marantz SR7011 @ $1319 ~84000
However, this brings in the dilemma of step down transformer. I wanted to check the expert opinion on using 1000 watt step down transformer for the AVR. I am assuming that a good step down transformer would cost ~ 10-12K for the load. Is it worth the gamble? Customs comes into play only for Marantz SR7011.
With the 110V products coming into picture, I am thinking of Pre-Pro for my stereo which would fit in $500. Any suggestions?
