One of my friend is very intrested in 2.1 setup under 50K. looking for a AVR/AMP to drive 2 Front speakers and 1 sub. I was quite confused what to suggest . pls suggest.....

Is your friend trying to build a 5.1/7.1 system later or this is purely for 2ch stereo music.

If he is not going to build a 5.1 system, then a stereo amp and a pair of FS would be fine. He may not need a sub with a decent pair of FS like wharfs/polks.

If he is going to build a surround system, then he should get a surround AVR.

One system I can recommend for your friend to audition is

Polk TSi 300 FS - 23000/-
Polk PSW 110 SUB - 15000/-
Denon 1312 AVR - 24000/-

The above combo will be 62K MRP. You can bargain for 10-15% discount and that will bring the price to 50K.

You may be able to create a system with Denon AVR and Wharfs Speakers. But I am not sure about the pricing.

Also please take a look at the offers in India's audio video home theatre and hi-fi shopping mart. You audition them outside and buy from hifimart.com

Thanks,
John.

wharfedale diamond 9 series would be better than 10 series. Best is to have a demo, you might like them better than the polks.

I think let your friend have an audition with a Denon AVR, say 1312 and good book shelves in range of 25k. He may change his decision to go for sub. Sub is not necessary for music if your bookshelves are good. Saying bookshelves because good floor standers may not be available for around 25k. If your friend is ready for used gear, then he can get good floor standers in 25k.

+1 to used gears.

Used gear is the way to go if one is on tight budget. That will give better value for every penny spent.
