My friend is looking for a 2.1 system.
Due to space constraints at his home, he wants a satellite+sub-woofer combo.
He is looking for systems that supports digital inputs. Any recommendations?

What is his budget?
Sky's the limit until we are brought to reality by budget.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.
Marantz PM5004 + Boston Acoustics XS2.1 Package is the 1st one I also suggested to him. But it does not have toslink, that's what his main requirement.
His budget is 30,000.

Active 2.1 Speaker package. No need for external/extra amp. The subwoofer unit has an optical input too.

Boston Acoustics SoundWare XS Digital Cinema Bluetooth?-capable home theater speaker system at Crutchfield.com

Saw this thread. Read it.

I don't think any model you mentioned here has digital inputs (Toslink especially). The OP has said in one of his post that Toslink is the main requirement.

the man did specify about digital input but not the source ... and everything is not termed "toslink"

it also does not mean he can't explore options

logitech z506/906 can be a good 5.1 satellite speakers set up with subwoofer, how much space would the rear satellite take? and you don't have to connect them necessarily

so that can still be a good 3.1;)

No need for you or any one of us to worry about what source he's gonna use. That's his issue.

everything is not termed "toslink"? Clarify

OP asks for a 2.1 and you suggest him 5.1? Buy 5.1 and one doesn't have to connect them all? Brilliant idea!. Name of the thread is "2.1 system". If you like to suggest, do accordingly.

3.1?

But if he is looking for more digital inputs, then i would suggest used AVR route for 10 ~ 12K with Boston Acosutics XS 2.1 speakers....
