If an amp. does not have Dolby Digital 5.1 channel decoder, how can it
give a 5.1 channel output with normal stereo input...from a DVD player (but the media file which i am playing is not recorded in 5.1 channel format).?? :sos:

No it cannot infact even if the amp has 5.1 DD decoder and the source is stereo, even then the amp just emulated the input to 5.1 out put using the Dolby Pro Logic II technique. Dolby Pro Logic II is the successor of Dolby Pro Logic, that processes any high quality stereo signal source into five separate full frequency channels. DTS Neo 6 is the DTS equivalent of DD pro logic two but with 7.1 configuration. Another point that needs to be remembered is that, this only simulated the 5.1 surround sound, and is not and no way near the full 6 separate channels that DD, DTS and HD audio delivers.....

Hope this helps .....

So you have a 5.1 channel amplifier that doesn't have DD decoder. And you have connected that to your DVD player. via??
