5.1 Speaker System Options

Okay, lets say the AVR is set Denon 1612.

Demo is scheduled for Nov 24. So, ignore the demo or my ears. Lets just decide which is good, accordingly, we plan the demo items.

Now about the speakers :

I made few lists :

Option 1 :

Floorstanders : Polk Audio TSi 400 - Rs 29,000
Sub Woofer : PSW 110 : Rs 15,000
Center olk CS20 - Rs 16,500
Surround Rear Channel : OWM3 - Rs 12,000

Total : Rs 72,500

Option 2 :

Floorstanders : WHARFEDALE VARDUS 400 FLOORSTANDING SPEAKER - Rs 26,000
Sub Woofer : Velodyone Impact 10 or 12 : Price, how much ?
Center : Wharfedale Vardus Centre 2 Speaker - Rs 10,300
Surround Rear Channel : WHARFEDALE VARDUS SURROUND 2 SPEAKERS - Rs 8900

Total : 45200 + velodyne sub price

Option 3 :

Magnat Monitor 1000 5.1 package

Monitor supreme 1000 = 1Pair,

Magnat Monitor Supreme Center 250= 1No.,

Magnat Monitor Supreme 100= 1Pair

Magnat Sub201A=1no.

Total : Rs 60,000

Option 4 :

Lets make an Indian speaker package, SONODYNE!!

In case of Polk I suggest RTi Series speakers and DSW 550 Subwoofer.

You may also consider Paradigm, Monitor Audio, Tannoy etc speakers.

Do they fall in the budget range ?

My budget was 50k for speakers, but I can extend a bit. So, are those options.

Heard a lot about Sonodyne, so that will be killer, if they fall in my budget as well. :clapping:

Polk came out with new monitor floorstanding speakers.

55T and 65T

Monitor 55T - Floorstanding | Polk Audio?

Not sure when they will make it to India.
You can ask the dealer about this models.

Monitors are cheaper version of RTI I think.
May be the new ones might offer something extra.

Don't know if these are reviewed yet by What Hifi and other sites.

Diamond 9,10 series are pretty out of my budget pajji. hyeah:

So, the war is between Polk and Sonodyne and it looks like Sonodyne is going to get the customer, all 5 from Sono

BTW Sonodyne Sonus Center is not 12K... But 6K...

Also Dipole surrounds are not 7K..But around 11K....

yes thanks for correction...actually i remebered a old thread and quted the price from memory....so is the mistake

so elangoas what do you recomend soamz.actually me and somaz has a plan on 24th(lets pray no surprise work comes up)....to demo.
I suggested him for a tight budget denon 1912 and sonodyne range....as i think sonodyne is very good for similarly priced foren brands...

we have a plan for demo avant as well.lets see.

I've been a passive observer in this forum and i've gained a lot of knowledge on HT setups. Thanks to all you guys!

Having spent hours on this forum and based on my budget/requirements. I've shortlisted this

Denon 1612 + Boston acoustics XS 5.1/Polk audio Tl1600.

I am a frequent traveller and I reside in chennai, I'll be auditioning both of em in the next few days. I have a few questions.

1. Where do I audition XS 5.1?
2. Which one do I chose in case i don't get to audition one of em.
3. What's the best price I should quote for?

I thought this would be the right thread to ask these questions. Help me out in taking a decision.

had been to Pro-fx yesterday.. auditioned polk tl1600; but the dealer was insistent on going for the focal sib n co with denon avr 1612. They're running a diwali offer on both the combos.

Since they were out of stock,i'd be auditioning them only tomorrow. I need to be in a position to take a decision tomorrow. I need you guys to give me a heads up as to which one to go for polk or focal?? It's a matter of 5k between them.

Help me choose between these two 5.1 systems.

Hi all,

I've finally purchased my first HT system. After auditioning all that I've mentioned above and a few others, I decided to purchase something I would never venture into. A floor stander! I just couldn't allow myself from buying a 5.1 package.

I've started with a Denon avr 1612 + polk audio TSi400

Purchased at profx Chennai @ Rs. 50000. Hope it's a good deal

The staff Mr. Emmanuel and Rajkumar were very patient. N courteous

Sure.. I think you misunderstood when I said I couldn't get myself to buy a 5.1 what I meant was I didnt wanna buy it as a package.. I wanted to build it..Since I was running on a tight budget I've stopped myself with FS. I would eventually end up with a 5.1 system
