A budget speaker system

Hi,

I am planning to setup a quality audio setup for my home. Currently I listen to
my Headphone (HD650) using an amp(Fiio E9) and DAC (Fiio E10) and FLAC and other lossless formats. I want to setup a decent speaker system (budget around 20K) with my computer as source.

Any suggestions which speaker system would be good to go with my setup. I am not a fan of bass so much, I prefer crisp clarity. Thanks in advance.

sumitabhg, with a headphone set up like hd650, it is gonna be a tough task to find a speaker setup to satisfy.
Since you already have a DAC, an integrated amp and a pair of passive speakers OR a pair of active speakers should do the job.

For the former option, you have combinations like Topping TP20 - CAmbridge audio s30, Norge 2060 with Wharfedale 10.1/ Norge Millenium etc. Instead of the above two amps, you could get a used Marantz/Nad integrated too.

Else you could go the active speakers way with options like Audio engine a5, Edirol ma15D, Swan etc

Thanks for the suggestions iaudio. Audio Engine a5 are one gorgeous looking speakers but too high for my budget right now. If only I could get a good deal around Bangalore for these speakers

sumitabhg, I am also looking for the same setup. I have come through Scansonic S5 active speaker. I have asked for demo, but unable to audition anywhere in chennai.

the swam M200MkII is about Rs 20k shipped.. you may look at googlebaba for the specs and looks and reviews.

There is also the D1080 model at about 15k

PS : I have not heard swan but was looking around myself.

Since you are already used to good quality sound from your headphones, at this price point, studio monitors (active) might be a good option. Behringer truths, KRK Rokit etc.
