Dual subs can be a double-edged sword. I had both a Rythmik and an SVS in my setup, plus a MiniDSP with REW. I spent countless hours tuning, tweaking, measuring — but no matter what I did, the performance never truly clicked. It either sounded too boomy or lacked that tight, satisfying slam. Despite having good gear, I wasn’t happy.

Around this time, I had been following Prateek’s posts on this forum. His threads always stood out — not flashy or theoretical, but practical, balanced, and rooted in real-world understanding of sound, rooms, and gear synergy. I was quietly impressed. So finally, I decided to connect with him.

He didn’t try to sell anything. Instead, he listened patiently, asked thoughtful questions about my setup, and then invited me to his demo room — no strings attached.

That demo was a revelation. He had two 18-inch sealed DIY subs with Crown amplification, and the kind of clean, powerful bass they produced left me stunned. Every bass-heavy movie scene we played only deepened my curiosity — not just about the subs, but about what was truly possible when things are done right.

Tempted, I told him I was ready to go ahead. But Prateek asked if he could visit my place to assess my current setup — just to be sure. That gesture itself said a lot.

He spent over two hours at my home, analyzing the room, my subs, settings, and REW results. And then came the most surprising part: He told me I didn’t need to buy anything.

He pointed out some issues in tuning and room acoustics — modal ringing, incorrect crossover points, and a bit of excessive gain — and then gave me a series of simple, actionable suggestions using the tools I already had.

I went back, made every single tweak he suggested… and finally, everything clicked. The boominess vanished. Transients were razor-sharp. Every gunshot, explosion, and drum kick hit with precision and depth. The performance I was chasing all this time was already hidden in my existing setup — I just needed to uncover it.

In the end, I made what I now consider a wise decision — not to chase new gear, but to optimize what I already had. That choice not only saved me money, but also gave me a deeper appreciation for sound and system synergy. And a big part of that credit goes to Prateek — not just for his knowledge, but for his honesty and passion.

Highly recommended.

If was a wonderful learning experience for me too..
The feedback from @chaitanya.v for the bass in our demo room was extremely useful.
Translation of subjective listening to objective understanding was a challenge..
In the beginning @chaitanya.v wasn't impressed with our dual 18" in subs. Without any justifications I just wanted to tune the system to his liking.
It took us 2 hours of trial and listening to dail in the subs to his preference.

It was revealing for me too to realise how capable our custom built subs were.
Clean, tight and super powerful ( I am really proud of what has been achieved after years dedicated to understand the art of producing quality bass in home cinema rooms) - and I feel still learning. :)

On visiting his home I was shocked to notice why such powerful subs aren't capable of producing satisfactory results in a small room.
That's where I was 100% sure that's it's not the product but the implementation. ( Think - Margin of error is low)

No doubt changing the subs would have improved the performance, but extracting the best out of the existing system is key before selling and buying a new one.

And that's how we ended up with satisfactory bass with the existing setup. :)
