Acer K-130/330 Exhorbitant Price?Going for Dell M110

Hello FMs,

I enquired acer about the prices for K-130 & 330. I was shocked by what was quoted!

Acer K-130 is priced @ Rs. 43250/-
Acer K-330 is priced @ 57500/-

Have the prices gone up so drastically in the recent few days when 130 was available for about 32.5K & K-330 was available for around 37-38K acc. to the news in our forum or the seller is asking for exhorbitantly high price? Can anyone enquire the current prices in their respective cities?

If thats the case, I am now thinking for Dell M110 which is around 30K mark with 300 lmns. Does it support 120Hz refresh rate/3D ready? Readin through the posts, i read that it has some focus issue, what is it & how serious?
I was thinking to get it online by Indiaplaza...is it a reputed site to shop?

THanks & regards,
Saket

Okay, after this insane quote by Acer Distributor, I decided to go ahead with Dell M110. I would have loved to go with Acer but availability & this crazy quote was a big turn-off.
Coming to Dell, almost same specs, but probably without a RC & some features. Ordered via Dell Dealer locally. I guess will have to wait for at least a week to get my hand on it. Price-30K All inclusive. Thanks friends for all the guidance & ideas that you showered on me during my hunt. May not be among the best projectors but I was determined to go the LED way & I think its a good purchase in my limited budget. Thanks everyone. I will keep you guys updated about it.

Regards,
Saket

I owe it to you guys. Thank you very much all you guys here who have helped me take a good & reasonable decision. All the replies to my questions plus the old threads have been of immense assistance to me.

I am sure, I will keep asking some more questions to you in future.

Now, I am looking for a black-out cloth, off white color, 8X5 feet for projection. Hope its fine in the views of you experts.

Thanks,
Saket

congrats on ur purchase, don't loose heart on dell m110
thats as good as k130 with little bit less features
i don't believe the price quoted to you and there is some confusion, u might have attempted with another source there....
I think remote control, 3d ready and some picture adjustment alone u may miss on DELL M 110, which may not be of that important looking at the price diff..
pl do keep some screenshots and ur own feeling about performance.

Thanks Diplomat for the encouragement. I will settle for it...balance between availability, budget & performance.

I think I will miss the RC unit the most as against the acer. So its not 3D ready..isnt it? But anyway, the price difference was huge & I am shocked that nobody here has LED projector ready for delivery...leave alone brand filteration!

Now please suggest me DIY screen I want to go for 8X5 feet screen...is it okay? Can I use seams if required, in case i dont get cloth of that size? How severely its going to affect the visibility, if at all. Black out cloth looks the way to go for...

Regards.

it all depends on the distance from which u can project and u can calculate ur projected image size..blackout is more than enough

Are you planning for a fixed screen? If so you can consider painting the wall area itself appropriately - then you can avoid seams.. you have to prepare the wall surface properly before painting it though so its smooth..

If its going to be non fixed screen, I suggest you go for a regular manual pull down screen(around 7-8k) for its usability and durability compared to that of a corresponding diy screen..

In the worst case, for a start, even simply projecting on a plain wall will be good enough in a darkened environment..

Also note that most rips will not be covering the entire screen area - typically the full height is not used - only in full 720p/1080p or TV inputs will need the full screen area.

.

i wanna know this too.

Anybody have any suggestions for what exact color shade/brand to paint? ideally would like to go with better contrast (so greyish? )

Well, I just had my new house painted & this particular wall with a earthy brown...so cant change to white as of now:sad:

k130 has color correction and it would have worked for ur painted wall, any way forget all that as u have jumped into dell...

I think color correction can compensate only for slight shade variations and not for dramatic color corrections.. Has anybody here tried this feature and can shed more light on this aspect?

ur right tma, its only for light color, but usually nobody will go for dark colors unless its specific inside leaving room.....
i have not tried as all my walls are white..

I am also planning to get this projector and have been similar price by a dealer nearby. However, one can get K330 from US for $500 currently which translates to around 28k if a friend brings it in. I feel Indian price is a bit too high!

that seems to be the correct price for the unit
anyway good to see that I will have many friends here owning K130 and it also makes me feel ..... my selection of projector was not bad at the price point....though it was tough for me to plunge into unknown arena with no review for the unit and no demo..

I am not sure but is there a possibility of getting better deals if we go for group buy? May be one can negotiate with distributor for some discount!

Guys,
Even I'm looking for Acer k-330... the price that I have got is 41k from one of the dealer.... but BENQ has release a new Short Throw LED projector.....BENQ GP10 ...
BenQ India | Products - Projectors - GP10... the price listed on some of the websites is 59990/-.... and specs wise its seem to be better than acer k-330..... So i'm waiting for the reviews..

Saket also try for the price of PLED W500 of Viewsonic same specs. Price is approx 46 to 48K. Service is better than Acer for sure
