Acer K-130/330 Exhorbitant Price?

Looks like due to unavailability of my particular choices & LED projector as a whole at my place , I may put off the decision for a while.

Hello Saket,

You can get the blackout screen with the height of 54 inch.I think this is enough for the screen. This will cost around 450 Rs per meter. So you need 3 meters.

Thanks Diplomat & Naseer...
Really dont want to put it off....but the availability is a big turn off. I even mailed the acer india sales & there is no response, except a comp. generated reply message. I tried to contact Vivitek ( for qumi-2), they said they will revert back in a day, but didnt happen as of yet. Only option is Dell 110 by a local seller, that too will take some time as its not available with him. India plaza, an online seller has it, but dont know their reputation. Havent made any purchase from them. Flipkart doesnt has any good LED pj in my range. Dell is out of stock & no trace of acer. Others in range are not great spec wise plus the deals on pj is not that great on flipkart. Dell that my seller will give for 30K is listed for about 34K on flipkart & that too is out of stock. Getting a little frustated...plus I really havent landed in waters for the screen as yet. Blackout cloth's availability now looks doubtful too...very bad:sad:
But thank you guys who have kept my spirit for the hunt alive. Will keep looking unless I get a good pj...

Thanks,
Saket

Only go for the projector that YOU have decided on and not whats available. It's easier to get impulsive (I have a Masters in Impulsive Shopping).

It might take a little more time, but earning that money took time too :)

That's a wise statement. Dell is not that bad, esp at the given price but just have a doubt that would its 300 lumens be enough for enjoying a movie? Dont know, may at last go for that one only of I dont get a better spec near thsi price...Holding on my impulses at the moment but dont know for how long!

did u take chance with chennai dealer???
hopefully the additional amount towards shipping may be turnoff I feel....

Yup..i called him today in the morning...but his phone was busy...didnt call again...How is Viewsonic WLED 500?? Its in 40s but spec wise looks okay to me...how about you experts?

@Saket: For Dell, did you try contacting Dell store over phone: 1800-425-4026 / 080-2506-8026? Look up their website for more details.

Yes, I contacted them by email. They sent a reply quoting 33.5K for M110. A local dealer promises @30K but will take some time...I can go for Dell, but acc. to you, is its brightness (300 lumens) good/enough for watching a movie? if not, looking into viewsonic W500 with 500 lumens but will cost ab out 15K more which obviously will be a big dent on my pocket. If Dell can do well for movies, I would settle with that as I am not a videophile of any sorts...please share your views?

Not sure if you checked this out but its available on eBay india for 40,990 - I normally avoid eBay but the sellers feedback rating's very very good. Plus it comes with a TWO year Acer warranty

New ACER K130 LED Pocket Mini Projector 300 Lumens best for Travelling | eBay

Now, here's the best part:

- eBay is having the Diwali promotion - so if you spend around 30-40k, you can choose from some assured gifts (free phone, camera etc) - its not the world, but its something....right? (Ps. The free camera is selling for Rs. 3990 on Flipkart)

- If you pay by your HDFC/ICICI card - there is a 7% discount and if you pay by mastercard, there's a 5% - plus - there are quite a lot of coupons for eBay at this time with varying discounts.

ICICI

just FYI

Saket also try for the price of PLED W500 of Viewsonic same specs. Price is approx 46 to 48K. Service is better than Acer for sure

Yup, that looks like good model sith its specs, just the price is a lil overshoot. Lets see, where do I land finally, thanks anyway for your suggestion. Have kept that in my hunt list.

Saket

The more lumens you have the better - in general.
But for 100" screen and seating distance of around 12 feet for 3-4 people, 300 lumens in a dim room is good enough on a budget.

As I just mentioned in another post, with 300 lumens in a dimly lit room, the day scenery or bright scenes / indoors will be good enough but scenes that are mostly blacks/dark scenes may loose some detail.

I had tried out the K130 in a dimmed room, and was impressed by the 100" display on the plain offwhite wall... Full hd/HD looks awsome but TV looks little pixellated depending on the channels..

Nice offers on ebay..though personally i avoid ebay. But thanks a lot shades ofgrey for taking so much trouble for my purchase dear. The thing is that if i spend 41k on acer with 300 lumens, viewsonic is available at a pittance more for 500 lumens...so that offer looks little expensive...but nevertheless, offers with the deal are great.
Do let me knwo what you feel about dell.

Thanks,
Saket

Hi All looking for K330/K130,

I had got a quote of K130 @34k and K330 @44k from one dealer in Blore.
Can you PM me or reply here how many are interested to go for it?

Based on the number of people let me try with my dealer what is his best price..
Or maybe one of those who reply can get a good price based on the response..

As far as I can see in this thread 2 or 3 people have shown their interest..
Also note, there will be additional shipping charges too..

Lets see how this goes..

I have a quote from a Acer distributor in Nagpur of k330 for 38k+taxes. Initially he was very much open for negotiations but when I told that I want just one unit for myself, he redirected me to local dealer in Raipur who quote 38k+taxes = 43k and no discount. I think if we can group our purchase, better deal is possible!

Oh, and k130 sells for 32k+taxes.

I have done some research for prices in Mumbai and have quotes for single Quantity.
1] LG PA-70G Rs. 48000 + 12.5% VAT ( This looks to be the best pj in LED segment)
2] OPTOMA ML- 500 Rs. 44000 + 12.5% Vat
3] ViewSonic Pled 500 Rs.39000 + 12.5%Vat
4] ACER K330 Rs. 40500 +12.5% VAT

If we want to check possibility of bulk order then we need guidance on choosing the best from above.

did u take chance with chennai dealer???

I had a chat with the chennai dealer over the phone. He gave me his e-mail ID & I have out up a mail to him. Asked about shipping, he's confortable with it. lets see what he quotes. Thanks for this contact Diplomat!

All projector prices in India are ridiculous. That's why i usually import my expensive electronics because it does work out cheaper. Yea, there's the warranty thing - but I really don't wanna spend 20k difference for warranty on a brand new product (as I would have for my Optoma GT750). The chances of a brand new product failing are as low as it gets.........I rather spend the difference in sprucing up my HT - but thats just me.

If you are considering this price range + LED, definitely take a look at Benq joybee GP2. It's consistently rated as one of the best portable projectors. Also Asus P1

BENQ

here it is in action: BenQ GP2 Joybee Portable Projector - NERD TREK - YouTube
ASUS
ASUS P1 Pico Projector Review

My brother has the GP2 and swears by it. I haven't seen the Asus in action personally.

Sorry to confuse you further - but see if you can find LG HW300 G/T - It's a FANTASTIC projector - I have seen it in action and its surprising how crisp the picture quality is.
http://www.testfreaks.co.uk/projectors/lg-hw300t/

Now, don't get too hung up on counting lumens. I have seen projectors with 5000 lumens failing miserably in front of 3500 lumens.

Brightness is the cumulative sum of many factors. What makes a difference is real-world performance. When you're dealing with a max of 500 lumens - its pretty much a given that you are looking at a fairly dark room anyway.

Work backwards:
- Find out the best reviewed (Note: NOT just the best specs) in your budget
- Either outsource OR Find out which of them are available in India
- If they are a little out of your budget - Diwali is coming up, so a good time to blackmail a couple of family members to chip in:cool:

Thanks for nice suggestions.

Just a point to make..I mailed to Dell, Acer, Vivitek and a few dealers. Except Dell nobody took the pain to reply even to a 'potential sale' mail. I even called a sales person directly with Vivitek TWICE, but neither he bothered to pick the phone, neither called back later. Also my two emails to him fetched nothing at all. This mob. no was advised by Vivitek in their computer generated email reply for sales dept and it also stated that they will revert within the next working day. However, neither happened. Acer never responded to any e-mail altogether.
Only Dell responded quite warmly, sent me specs & various links of its PJ and the price too. Today a follow up mail was also put up by them.
If this is the attitude towards sales, God knows what will happen when we chase them for service?
