Affordable Sub that can hit 20Hz

I understand that the sub need not reach as low as 20Hz as it is mostly not audible and it is just felt. Only high end subs go lower than 20Hz. But, still i like look out for Subs that go such low just for curiosity. What are the options we have in the entry level (high end entry level ) that can go as low as 20Hz.

Well as far as I know none of the 20-35k subs hit that low at -3db.
One option though is to go DIY.with a 12 inch or larger driver and a properly tuned ported Box

SVS for many of us does not fall in affordable category. :sad:

Check out the Avepa thread by ashok. It is a nice 21 incher going to less than 20Hz and can be had for less than the PB-12

I was just replying to Flash that there are Subs that have linear frequency response @ 20Hz. It is definitely not affordable one.

In the SVS range and I would deem that as High end considering prices in India .

You have subs like
HSU with variable tuning freq
Rythmik with variable tuning frequency (12hz one port open 18hz 2 ports open)
Velodyne
Emotiva etc etc etc

But then again we are talking about about subs in the 70k - 1,50,000k price bracket Indian prices.

In the affordable low end range 20k - 35k - IMO none can hit linear 20hz

If its the Polk DSW 660wi ... This is the Fq response 25-125 Hz (-3dB)
Pretty good sub though. Offers a lot of flexibility. I had the opprtunity to play with it some time back. I guess it costs around 30k in India.

Looks like Definitive Technology ProSub 800 and ProSub 1000 can go as low as 20Hz/18Hz respectively. They are less than $500. Are those beefed up numbers? any opinions here?

A lot of Sub companies do give up Beefed up numbers.
However as you mentioned the
ProSub 800 has a FQ response of 20hz - 150hz
ProSub 1000 has a FQ response of 18hz - 15hz

What Def tech fails to mentions the linear response at the lower end of the spectrum
is it 20hz/18hz linear - 3db or -100db

The Speaker in your telephone may also have a FQ response of 20hz. but it is probably down a zillionth of a db compared to a 1khz fq

Companies like HSU/Velodyne/Epik/Rythmik/SVS etc etc . usually put up a fq response curve to show the linear output .

Def tech maybe priced in US at $400 - $500 for the ProSub800 - 1000
but how much would it cost in India .

THe Velodyne Impact 12 costs $379 in the US - Rs 18950 but the same in India costs 30-32k a good 50% more.
So a $500 sub in the US would most probably cost 40- 45k in India.

The HSU VTF-2 is a brilliant sub . at $549 ...But is it affordable in India ..... I guess not
