Airtel HD - 4 new HD channels this diwali

So the total stands at 11 HD channels.

If the sports HD channels are included, the Airtel HD will surpass Videocon.

Now there are three providers (Videocon/Airtel/Dish) has 2 digit HD channels.

No wonder TS is peeing on their pants without transponder space and is offering HD boxes for 1/2 the price.

a representative, while selling me HD+ box few months ago said TS will be launching 100 new HD channels by diwali. Though I found 100 laughable, I thought may be 3-4 more would be good. But now there is nothing.

I am a new Airtel HD consumer, and have taken a package which includes all HD channels free for the next 5/6 months. Now they have started 3 new HD channels and not giving it as an addition of the free pack, asking 15 Rs/channel/month. This is harsh. Also the customer care service is not useful/friendly.

Picture quality is deinitely better than others.

Also the HDMI cable cannot give a 5.1 channel output, I am using an optical cable for this. (This is what I experienced)

BEWARE BEWARE ...............After reading about good picture qualityof Airtel DTH mentioned by members on this forum,i bought 2 Set Top Boxes in Feb 2011 ,out of which one HD was to be installed immediately and 2nd normal STB was to be installed when i will subsequently buy 2nd TV.... But after 9 months, I am ruing the Airtel and myself for buying Airtel STB,s, As uptil now i have not bought the 2nd TV and hence 2nd STB was lying unpacked with me and Airtel is deducting money from my account for both the STB,s.
This is being done inspite of my numerous complaints to airtel written as well by phone,they always tell me that the issue has been resolved and my 2nd STB has been switched off,but still uptil today they are deducting for both STB from my account,again when i complaint by mail and phone two days back,they reverted back that both of my STB are on and i will have to pay for both , Now i am fed up with these Airtel people and planning for other service providers,as i am feeling helpless after paying them so much money as STB charges and subscription money.

Even if i compalint to TRAI or consumer redressel forum,it will be years before i will get justice and if change service provider i will have to spend thousand of rupees to get the STB ,cables .

I request all members to take into account the poor redressal service of AIRTEL as this can happen with anybody.

Hi,

Buying Tatasky may have its pitfalls.But among all the DTH poviders Tsky is the best WRT to picture quality and service.

same thing with me for additional HD channels they are charging extra money,though all these channels in normal picture are available in the package.
Also same for HDMI cable,Though i gave them my own,they have not fitted even after 9 months.
Picture quality and same techonology is available with Videocon DTH.
My experience says that all these BIG companies are their to cheat and fleece customers to show as profits in their balance sheets,and I feel that and as per experience local neighbourhood cablewallah gives better service than these cheaters

Iam getting all channels for 89/- per month. Earlier 7 channels were for 71/- per month.
Who gave you this 15/- per channel info?

BTW, the History channel comes in Hindi and Telugu only!!! No english.

How can Airtel be the main sponsor for the India F1 and they are not giving HD! What idiots. I am pissed off. ESPD HD on Tata Sky was amazing today!

Was far more fun to watch the race in HD on a 32" TV (parents place) as compared to SD (Airtel) at my place on a 42" TV

I believe airtel is doing the right thing. The problem is not airtel. Problem is star & espn. They charge really high. And this is not a new issue. This exists from the cable tv days where star & espn felt they were special and wanted to charge 2-5 times what others used to. They need to understand this is Indian market... and this market which has and can be captured by quantity.
So when star & espn is charging high other sports channels follow suit. Lets not forget these guys make ridiculous money from ads alone!
Other providers must also dump these channels for the short run, rather than giving into them!
