Airtel HD DVR Box

I finally got the Airtel HD DVR installed today. The build quality is decent but left a lot to be desired. It has two Inputs for Antennae in which two signal wires get in.. One gives Odd channel Numbers and One gives Even Numbers. Maybe to increase signal Quality. The SD quality is decent.. Still have to Check the HD quality tomorrow. Will keep you all posted

Two cables are connected to 2 tuners in the box. When you record one channel you can watch another channel, otherwise you can record two channels simultaneously.

It is also possible to record two channels while watching a recorded program

If you are not recording, only one tuner will be used for all channels (even and odd).

I was also thinking about that but i only have one cable connected and its missing some channels and showing no Signal.. What could be the reason..

^ Best is to ask Airtel and register a complain if you are facing such issues...

i complained today and they said that they would push the channels again...

I think this is the intended behavior. I got it installed yesterday. Some of the channels are on Tuner 1 and others on Tuner 2. But there is no even/odd pattern.

Apart from that, I face another issue. Programming info is not coming for HD channels so I am not able to record them. It sometimes come for Movies now HD, Star Movies HD, Discovery HD and NGC HD but never for Star Plus HD and Star Gold HD.

Time based recording works for any channel.

Yes, Time based recording works for a channel even if EPG is not updated properly for it. I have tried it with Star Plus HD as EPG was not updated even once for it in my box and it worked fine.

Hi,

Even i am facing this problem, for HD channels i am not getting program information and i am trying to explain this problem to the coustomer care and they seem to only ask for error code like roberts .... one of the worst coustomer care i have ever seen.

Can anybody let me know if program information is visiable for HD channels.

I am probably the most dumb DTH customer ever...airtel has harassed me no bounds but still i have their HD DVR and another SD connection for my bedroom...!

anyway, the quality of their HD channels is quite good. I get 5.1 ch dolby dig surr though optical out to my avr. yes the program details are absent most of the time for HD channels, and i have raised my complaint for this many times but in vain.

the two cables, as already pointed out, are for twin tuners- one of viewing and another for simultaneous recording. They have recently migrated to a new satellite which enables reception of the star HD channels.

Does Airtel's HD DTH box upscale all the SD Channels? How is the quality of SD channels on HD DTH box? I have got myself a 50" Plasma TV and was considering Airtel or upgrading the existing Reliance box to HD DTH box.
