Some friend of mine has pointed out this new active speaker brand called Aktimate.

Does anyone have any experience with this brand ? The Maxi model looks nice. A friend is looking out for a solution like this. Would appreciate any comments.

This is apparantly available in india. Any pointers about the indian pricing ?

if it is new....avoid it unless it is designed by highly experienced known designers.
to produce quality speakers *without issues* requires years of research/trial and error. tHIS is why u see quality speakers are ones who were making speakers for years or someone who has worked in such companies in creating speakers ...starting new

So most of DIyers are first timers so all those speakers are trash...right? Can you confirm your opinion?

u heard it as thrash...unfortunately

let me quote it out for you

to produce quality speakers *without issues* requires years of research/trial and error.

while few aspects of the speaker might sound right...few others wont. To get more aspects of the speaker right withing a certain budget requires expertise & years of research. Otherwise it is *more compromises* over the already budget compromise. Even if budget is not an issue, to get perfection in speakers is not the same as DIY an amplifier which requires little expertise. Not all trade tricks are taught in books for *DIY experts*. This is why some speaker designers are highly sought after and paid crazy compared to some others.

I think I read somewhere on this forum that the aktimate minis are much better than audioengine a5, albeit at a slightly higher price. If it's available in India, it would be a good idea to demo them. The price of the minis should be in the vicinity of 25k. Dunno about the maxis.
