Probably my favourite reissue of 2023. When Gotta Groove Records reissued the highly sought-after free jazz classic Al-Fatihah by the Black Unity Trio, I hoped they would work their magic on the bassist Abdul Wadud's long out-of-print debut solo record By Myself. Solo free improv jazz cello might not be everyone's cup of tea but I thoroughly enjoy this release.
