All the speakers I made - suri

+1 to that.also, dont u think the brass could be just polished and left as is?should look phenomenal :licklips:!!cheers

The brass rods could just be polished and kept. They will look nice.

Won't the painting affect the resonant frequency of the brass ? I have seen similar ones on Merlin loudspeakers. Are these designed keeping in mind the resonance of the baffle like the merlins ?

Awesome job Suri !

do you recognise the driver?

Your speakers are worthy of being included in Star Trek! Please post you photos to Hollywood, you might fetch a good price for it :)

Cheers

This is the problem with guys from Pro-audio! Every one of them I've met and spoken to have this same theory. They discount the value of cables totally! To them, as long as its copper of 4.0 Sq.mm or more, its all the same to them.

...and yet we debate over how the music should sound in our systems, that they made with those 4.0 Sq.mm cables in the first place

@ rallynut, @ squarewave -

in the initial stages - the idea was to polish the brass and clear-coat it -

audio_engr, then put a seed of doubt in my mind - he asked " do you not think that polished brass on the front face of a (big) speaker like this would look out of place?

the more i thought about it, the more it seemed that polished brass would look out of place - a little bit of photoshop showed that polished brass would be a huge highlight and would detract from the speaker as a whole - dark colours looked best - not sure, squarewave - whether painting would change the resonant frequency of brass (and yes, the idea was to absorb and dissipate the energy) - not sure, also about the resonant frequency of brass and if it differs between flats, rods and other shapes of brass - these are solid brass rods (round) cut lengthwise into half.

anyway the deed is done as you can see here-

I reserve my comments :) but frankly Suri, can't wait to see/hear your finished witches in all their glories!

hehehe!!!! -unleash_me!

cannot wait myself - on pins and needles! - wondering if they will sing like nightingales or cackle and scream like witches!!!

edit - that sabrina in the link you posted - she has fancy tires - love handles? - reminds me of the time when my wife's cousin started a business and named it after his wife - and my wife said " why can't you do something like that for me?" - so i go - " sure, and we'll name it "Sushma's little tire shop" - well, hehehe! - selling auto-rickshaw tires!
