Literally any player can play scratched disks. The issue is how well can the player understand the data and play music properly. This involves re-reading of data a few times and extrapolating the information to arrive at the best read. When you are playing music, this has to be done in real time. Again the quality of output will depend on the depth of the scratch. If the scratch is very deep, no player on earth can help you. If the scratch is superficial, any player can handle that. You may hear some noise if your ears are very sharp. That is all.

will Marant cd player play scratched CDs as well ? I know that a 2K player will play almost all scratched disks - not sure of Marantz - before shelling out that money, I want to be sure of it - Owerns - can you please clarify ?
