Hi,

I have been wanting to try this for a while now after seeing a similar set up on one of the far east forums.

So, last evening I disconnected the Altec 288 drivers and placed the Altec 605 B's on top of the Altec 515B loaded bass cabinets and ran coaxial drivers with the Jeff Markwart crosover and the 515 doing bass duties below 800hz.

Sounds very good but the crossover from the 515B to the coaxial driver needs somework.

The sound is a little more laid back compared to the 288 and tactrix horn ,and there is a slight softening of transients. Crossover tweeking might improve things.

Next project planned for this weekend is to hook up the Altec 288 drivers to the Tannoy Golds bypassing the HF driver of the Tannoys. Got this idea from the hifi Wigwam forum ,a member has tried this with a Vitavox HF driver.

Regards
Rajiv
