I will be getting a new setup by march end.It will be for the main hall and the only purposes that it need to serve are regarding movie playback (TV/DVD player/HD media player/Bluray) and gaming via PS3/X360.

1.The setup won't be used for music listening at all. So,movie:music can be easily assumed a 100:0.The Hall is around 18x16 and opens into dining area adjacent.

2.Since movie playback via BR is a priority, one with HD-MA/TrueHD support is a must.

3.Haven't decided on a speaker setup, will be slowly building one.Intending to run the pair of Cerwin Vega CLS 215s for the time being.

4.The AVR should have around 100+ W RMS @ 8ohms

5.A 5.1 one would also do,not too picky about higher number of speakers.

6.The AVR should pack some punch and slam that is preferred for heavy action movies as thats my preferred genre.

7.Prefer a non-yamaha one as i already own one and the decision is just because i want to have a different setup and not more of the same. For the record, the i simply love my current Yammy and it handles both movie/music just brilliantly for my tastes.

8.Not crazy about video upscaling and all, but video upconversion is a preferred option.

Budget is maximum 30-35k and used ones would also do(will be posting a WTB thread later next month).Plz suggest some options for me in the limited budget.

Thanx in advance for any help.....:):)

there are many options for avr however first decide on the speakers you want to take and depending on the sound note you like..

then you can decide with the avr.. for the power and feature requirement as per the speakers.

and within that budget you can have cpl of options..

oknyo
denon
yamaha.

@theironhorse: Thanx a lot mate...like i said, i will be connecting the AVR with a pair of CV 215s for the time being and expand the setup later only....and since music ain't much of a priority and myself not being 'the' audiophile, just need something to rock the balls off when playing movies/gaming and not an acoustic match like for music listening(hope u understood my blabbering :) )

I will be looking into the models u specified and it should be hard to get hold of those at a single AV dealer here at my location, but have to try.

@iaudio: Thanx mate, and YGPM!! :)

Are you looking for a budget AVR / midrange or highend (audiophile) ...?

Here is a budget AVR

Kenwood Audio-video receiver KR-v9030

^^only midrange man......thats why i specified the budget under 40k.Would really prefer a used upper midrange if it fits in the budget :)

Yamaha 667/Onkyo 608/Denon 2311/Onkyo 708 .Also check something with preouts so you can put a stereo / integrated amp later. You can buy from abroad at a better price.

I got it from Kittu here in the forum....my friends just picked up today from his place at banglore, will reach me by sunday hopefully. :)

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
