Onkyo HT-S3700 (Package) has a 130 W Passive Sub-woofer (Not built in Amplifier)

I took a demo of this setup and the Bass punch from this passive sub is good enough for a standard living room.

Later all speakers can be up-gradable with Bookshelf or Floor standing, except the Sub.

Do I really need to go for Power Sub-woofer?

Thank you.

Power is the advantage.

In case you feel the need to upgrade and it is likely that you will, a powered sub gives you more flexibility with regards to replacement. Also a powered sub takes over the lower frequencies amplification from the receiver, so the receiver can use the available power for the mid and high frequencies.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
