Now the recording feature is enabled in normal HD box using external hard disk. So no need of DVR. Only disadvantage is you cannot view a channel and record another channel parallely.

In my case Airtel has been seriously good and I believe that you can go for it but for me as a Delhi subscriber the best HD channels which are sports ones are not less than Rs 40 per month. Don't know much about Kerala but they must be in the same range.

I would like to add few points for Airtel Digital TV users:
- Airtel's various package prices are same all over India. Depends on what packages a customer chooses.
- Sports HD channels (ESPN HD, StarCricket HD and TEN HD) are available at Rs. 75/month. Individually priced at Rs. 40/month.
- Today, Airtel has launched a top up called "Super HD Plus Topup" at Rs. 149 per month (Rs. 135 + Taxes). This topup includes all the 14 HD channels offered by Airtel including all Sports HD channels.

Seems like 'EthenHunt' jumped right before I clicked the 'submit' button ;-)

Well this is good for HD users but its sad that I paid Rs 4000 for buying this DVR and you guys get this feature free, hey one more thing, when you record the content in your hdd can you transfer and play it in your computer? Is it in a compatible format?

No. you wont be able to do the same. It is in encrypted format and can be viewed from stb only.

Regarding the recording feature, is it available now? when i checked that option in STB it says "Service to be started shortly"

For me, the first time it wanted me to connect a "hdd not less than 80gb". Now it says the "service is to be started soon".

I am also getting the same message with me HD DVR.

It is very well working. Just call CC and tell them to activate the Free recording topup.I got it activated on mine last week.It works perfectly. I am currently using it with a 160GB HDD. Also the HDD is recognized by the computer and shows you the files created by the stb but unfortunately you cannot open the content present.
You have to buy the remote seperately for 450 bucks.Pretty expensive
I use it with my DVR's remote for now.

Well as I have the DVR so I dont think I need to connect any hdd, anyway it doesnt get recognized.
Guys planning to take DTH connection new? Is Airtel the best thing to go for?

I think it is better if you go for Tata Sky. Though they have a few lesser channels than Airtel but the service is great and it is slightly cheaper I believe.

It worked. Took three calls to the CC though.

Difficult to use with the current remote. Will have to get a new one.
