I m using a MBP as a source currently to play movies on my Samsung 3d tv, currently I m using a DVI to HDMI cable for video, and it's default spdif to receiver for audio, my tv has DLNA., is it possible to connect my laptop to tv in anyways using LAN? I have the LAN of the tv currently connected to a router, and I m able to stream from the Internet with an app on my phone, but this is slow., I need to know if I can stream the content on my laptop through a similar setup?

If that was confusing , all I need is to know if its possible to stream through LAN of my laptop or stream to the wifi router , which in turn will be conncted to my tv , tv doesn't have wifi so only this setup is made this complex!

Best solution is to buy an Apple TV or WD TV instead of trying different streaming methods.

My quad-core based desktop is struggling to stream movies to TV via PS3 due to heavy usage of CPU for encoding purpose. I even bough some streaming software to optimize but not much of use.

I didn't have much problem with the HDMI cable with 1080p ripped videos, haven't tries blu ray Iso though, the point is I don't want to spend anything on a player!

A MacBook Pro should not ideally have a problem streaming 1080 content. However, as suggested, if wireless streaming is required, AppleTV is the way to go. I'm also doing that and it works flawlessly. And I'm not even using pro, just air. The DNLA option will work if the movies are in mp4 high profile 4.0 which is not lossless.

bro i am using the same while i am typing this. my wifes watching a movie that i am streaming wirelessly to my samsung smart tv using my mac book pro

use vuze to load your movies. since your tv in smart tv you can connect it to wifi and stream wireless. its seamless.

Yeah it worked for me, but my stupid tv doesn't have the optical out! And the analog is quite 'bassles'!

good, haven't tries blu ray Iso though, the point is I don't want to spend anything on a player!
