isn't aptX supposed to facilitate playing of FLAC files over bluetooth?

Imagine my surprise when i paired my toshiba laptop to my old jbl charge (first version) and could play FLAC from JRiver media center and hear it on the jbl charge.

What gives???

Even normal bluetooth plays Flac files over bluetooth.
In normal bluetooth, you get the trimmed version of source file at receiver.
With Aptx Bluetooth, you get less trimmed version of source file :eek:hyeah:

aptX has a bit rate of 384 kbit/s, while FLAC depending on the settings can have anywhere from 700 to 1100 kbit/s.

aptX in other words will compress, though it's another matter if you can hear a difference. Most folks are indeed happy with Spotify bit rates, my wife listens to a ton of Apple music and Wynk, and I myself enjoy iHeartRadio a lot, all of them stream MP3 quality only.

for casual listening anything about 256kbps is good, I however would love to have an option in Spotify to stream FLACS, or atleast on home Wifi if not on 3G.
