Are we going to have an endless medical inflation?

So you treating your relatives a bomb at cafe is a good lesson of financial management your parents taught you? Or carelessly saying 8lakhs is nothing in Mumbai these days? Ha ha! It boomerangs back at you right? Which side of the arguement are u in right now?
Along with all the good points that others have put up that kids should be taught in schools

I propose reading and comprehension along with rational thought and critical thinking

I should be AFK for a day, so I'll join this fun fest laugh riot hopefully tomorrow

Cya

I gave this as an illustration only and to support the view point of medical inflation even scares a decently earning chap with health insurance.
of course. inflation is an issue. Food inflation is also pretty high in india ..but unfortunately a fact of life one needs to plan for unless the Govt can step in.

Doctors fee is a very small part of medical cost ...Real estate, wages and equipment , Pharma and supplies all contribute to the cost and these go to Corporations.

Doctors and Nurses are actually quite poorly paid as are teachers !

Sshhhh 🤫 don't say such blasphemous things. OP will blow a gasket that the evil money gouging doctors and prettily smiling nurses are considered poorly paid😂😂

Yes, you seem to digress a lot. It could have been a good addition in your younger days at school. Precis writing is another inclusion.

I remember you yourself writing here that you talked to a surgeon regarding a 1.75 lakhs fee. See thats why many supported the patient's side of the story.

And arj, if doctors are constituted inside the fabric of medical care, whether they get paid less or not does not matter. I just outlined medical care and continue to say i dont pick doctors perse which is being misunderstood here unfortunately. I didnt stand up and say doctors make money to warrant sdk's defensive responses. Did i?

true..and I was not really pointing at you specifically in the response but about the view prevalent thats all
but the topic was a good discussion...the sad fact is public medical facilites are not great in india in most states.

Kerala for one has a really good system for public health not sure of other states but I believe Sikkim is also pretty good

In Chennai during the covid, they had several govt hospitals provide free treatment with Adyar Anandha Bhavan catering. It was like a vacation to those who were infected with covid. But having said that most government hospitals dont have solutions to accute problems or emergencies as their wards are heavily lined up and the doctors or nurses give no proper care especially in big metro cities.
Kerala, a close narrative to that state, a similar anecdote let me recall... In the Andaman Havelock island, (similar to Kerala) my son was bitten by an ant that swelled huge. However there was a zero cost pretty decent govt welfare hospital that attended him free of cost. The doctor lady even told my son a story! No marks in his skin. Coming to Mumbai, it could be tantamount to 25k outpatient/ambulatory surgical center treatment with a scar as a life long souvenir.

The difference lie in the fact that in such places the aim is to provide medical care but in a dog eat dog Mumbai capitalist eco system, the idea is to hit the furtune 500, share holder value elevation and that kind of crap.

Is this an endless discussion?
I want to move on to another serious question: “Should handwriting still be taught in schools?” It has become an obsolete skill and unnecessary
Doctors may be partly to blame

Doctors are not to blame at all, that's because we specialise in handsquiggling.

This is a closed door behind the scene group activity with secret handshakes et al

Only doctors and chemists are a part of the group

The handsquiggles have built in self destruct where after a little while even the doctor can't read when he wrote the last time

A very popular meme😂

So, was your first post in this thread referring to an institution in Mumbai - the root of all evil?

Na, This time you may have to blame software/Hardware Engineers . Text to Speech,Speech to Text , Alexa , Siri etc.

Well, I recently ended up getting billed 4k for my driver for a GERD related chest pain that mimiced a heart attack. It was a biryani he ate and since he was my acting duty driver, i bore the bill. Although it was an ER facility of a big hospital, for an ECG and some pan D and muccaine gel, a prescription and a couple of nurses smiling at him saying "you are ok", a 4k bill was on the high side of things. Definitely he could not afford such a bill. Does it justify this charge?

Guts hospital industryis taken over MBA graduates.Doctoes have no role in deciding the bill .it's all decided by MBA administrators but people think that bill is more because of doctors.Doctor fee is about 25-30 percent of bill excluding investigations bill. Even in that fees 20%is deducted as floor charges .from the remaining amount TDS and tax liability.
There is a wrong conception among public that entire bill what they pay goes to doctor.

So many are run by PE firms and businessmen. Doctors who start it move to advisory roles once they want to scale up and need funds.

there are so many investors who are looking a 2-3 years exits at the usual 13% CAGR hence there has to be a focus on bottomline. Doctors are measured on the net margin they bring in as well
