Want a good quality EQ.Looks like an item in professional chain.
Will it not be an overkill in a home setting?
Cheers,

Do these deteriorate the sound quality?Hi
You can use the EQ...provide you have the required connectors....XLR / Jack type etc......
Also you need to make adjustments properly, As a DJ in the past i have used professional EQs for shows and big sound setups....the sliders for each frequency are very sensitive (depends on which EQ brand you will use) ..

If you can get your hands on a Yamaha EQ 70 or EQ 550 or old Technics models....you are sorted.....
I have genelec 8040b monitors + genelec 7060b subwoofer. (2.1 ) everything is active.Such EQs are hooked to professional Power amps and they work well.....it does improve the sound quality and also boost output by 10 to 20% overall.....
In a home setup a lot of adjustments to be made along with home gear....your speakers need to ensure they are able to handle all those frequencies.....also the amp (power amp) should be able to handle EQ signals sent to it (10hz - 50khz ..min.) Else the sound will be muddle up etc...
A pre out amp (with main in) can be hooked to an EQ but this will be a pure stereo setup...... I am happy with Marantz as all their models have 9 Band EQ available for each speaker which can be manually adjusted.
