audiophile jokes

Not many in market care about lossless. They are happy with their 96 mp3 playing on their Boat/MI handsfrees.
I was being predictive. It’s my gut feel that in a couple of years lossless will become the norm. That’d also allow the manufacturers to sell a whole new set of products (wifi speakers, earphones et al) as upgrades - making BT soon a thing of the past. It’s also timed right as people are travelling and socialising less, and would therefore listen more intently than before.

At least an honest salesman. :)

This is not the appropriate thread but it's not about market forces; in music or art , pursuit of excellence is not driven by the market it is driven by the practitioners. Unfortunately unlike Hollywood, the Bollywood and adjacent industry hasn't been able to maintain the healthy balance between the commercial side and the art. In any other country with the kind of music we produced from 50s through 70s those artifacts would have been mastered and made available in high quality in limited copies, forget about a long production run but at least as a collectible. The fundamental difference is in the west many serious artists are in the hifi and music production business, here in India artists have a very small sphere of influence, secondly the business houses running music production here are not connoisseurs , a look at what Sa Re Ga Ma did when rehashing old music or even T series clearly shows that there has been a laser-like focus on just money and not preserving the art.

Yes, I understand. But I don't see a market size that is enough to get them moving. Not enough people here care about quality. Look at the audio market, Full of Party Speakers, Cheap Active Towers, Sub par sound bars. Even in portable market below par rules. Not enough care, they just need something that can push a lot of air when LF plays.
