Hi,

I am from Mumbai and I wish to purchase a good 5.1 system that would cost me around 50K.

My room size is about 10*14, so I feel 5.1 should be good. I would be using
the system more for music.

I heard couple of combinations of which liked Whardale Moviestar 70+ with Onkyo SR508 becuase it had very clear vocals but
1. Whardale Moviestar 70+ is excellent at sound but didnt like the looks.
2. Total cost went upto 63k.

What else do i plan to connect?
1. Samsung LED 40" TV
2. Playstation 3

Thanks & Regards
Reynold

Try Onkyo 508 with Energy take or Paradigm Cinema

Or

Denon 1610 with the same set of speakers....

If you are 70% into music why dont you go for a good stereo amp and bookshelf speakers...

Pretty much my case.

Only difference being, I love its looks .... excellent for music and very good for movies .... slightly on the brighter side with my Pioneer AVR.

BTW, my set-up (Pioneer AVR + Wharf 70+) costed me slightly < 50 K ... 6 months back.

Yes I would like to go for Bookshelf speakers.

Please help me with the model no for AVR + Speakers and approx cost if possible.

Thanks

Go for Denon 1911/ Onkyo 608 ... Start the setup with Paradigm mini/atom monitors later you can add the SUB and rear speakers....

But first audition some good speakers and then decide on the avr/amp .....

^^with AVR included in that 50k ? There are indeed options available but will be HTiBs rather than separates and honestly, won't hold candle to the quality that can be provided by going separate though it will be costlier.

Like others have already mentioned, get a decent AVR + a pair of good BS first.Later, u can muster more cash and buy matching center, surrounds and sub.

Please note I am Planning to build a 5.1 system.

Bose 301 vs Wharfdale 10.1?

Any better bookshelf speakers?

A combination i thought of below.

Onkyo SR 608 48000
Bose 301 17888
Acoustimass 5 Series IV Stereo Speaker System 22388
VCS 10 Centre Channel Speaker System 11138
Total 99414

Is this a good combination
Onkyo SR 608 48000
Bose 301 17888
Acoustimass 5 Series IV Stereo Speaker System 22388
VCS 10 Centre Channel Speaker System 11138

Total 99414

Please advise which speakers should I check out
Wharfdale 10.1?

I would prefer a complete 5.1 set or bookshelf to start with

why not Onkyo 608 + Paradigm CT 100 / Onkyo 608 + Energy / Denon + Wharf movie Star /Onkyo 608 + Def tech pro cinema 800.... so many in the market .... do a bit of research and go for a good system ...

Check this out: Onkyo-HT-S3300 with really good quality sound in this range.:clapping:

Approx Price may be around 35K to 40K with AVR.

:confused: what Onkyo HTS3300 is a HTIB available between 23 to 27k ... It is bundled with AVR+Speakers.............

Hello,

Firstly, the Onkyo 608 is available at Coimbatore for 41k (bill+warranty).

I auditioned the Wharfe 10.1, 9.2, 9.5 and Energy take 5.1.

the 9.5 just rocked, was too impressive, but for my listening area would be an overkill.

I really recommend the Energy take 5.1, its on demo at Reliance digital and I suggest that you check that out.

Cheers,
Pannags
