i have heard this in OB (LX521, LXmini) at Linkwitz place and i agree. they are the most clean sounding subs with support for huge xmax and very low distortion. they should do pretty well in sealed box too.

What's the alternative?

Sand filled panels is ancient technology
What's the alternative?
I bought sand from the shop selling construction materials...bricks, blue metal ( chipped granite) etc.
When I was interacting with FM Trittya a couple of years ago, he was talking about roasting the sand in a big vessel thoroughly. I fully agree with him; that process would thoroughly sanitise and rid the sand of the omnipresent fungal spores, insect eggs etc.You might have to spread a thin layer on newspaper and dry it in the sun. It must be fully dry. It could take time drying all of it !
The front baffle is double baffle. Rear baffle is single and holds the plate amp. Two layers of plywood with sand in between on all four sides. Check out the box diagram.Ideally, all sides could be sand filled but the box would be too heavy to move around ! The weight of the sand is deceptive as you pour it in. It gets really heavy very fast. You don't really need river sand !
I think you are referring to powdered granite which is being used extensively in place of river sand. I did consider that but found that the granules are too fine to be used for the application.Sorry I am totally new to this Sand filled thingy, but cant you use M-sand instead of the normal sand. M-sand should be easily available rt?
Yeah, I intend to but no harm in learning about latest info that our FMs may have right! ;-)Follow Danny's build. Don't compromise.
The next alternative isn't for us. It's lead shot !
Hi Captain, eagerly waiting for your updates on DIY sub, me too planning to make one.
