Hi all
I built crossover using high grade audiofiler capacitor having 3% tolerance. I built one first then built 2nd one after two months.
I noticed different level of high frequency from both speaker. Could not find out reason. I interchanged all components one by one including drivers. Finally noticed that capacitor causing this small difference.
I thought, due to different burning time this issue is coming. Same Time also did below DYI jugad;

A: Warming using heir dryer for few minutes - One of my friend worked in aerospace. They use to keep components in ove- controlled-warming for couple of days to get the results same as used components. Inspiration from there :) This reduced difference from both speakers

B: Changed polarity (not logical as cap are bipolar) - To my surprise this also reduced the difference further

Would like to hear from experts -
1. Are there more ways to stabilise components.
2. Point B above: also experienced by someone?

if you are talking about audiophiler caps you bought from ebay, they are just high grade looking, not actual high grade.
Suggest you buy something branded & better

How to judge grade of capacitor?
By hearing like smooth, warm sounding OR some technical measurement?
By the way what are shortcoming of using average grade capacitor?

Both.

By the way what are shortcoming of using average grade capacitor?

Loss of peace of mind from seeing the adjective "average".

Jokes apart, bad capacitors can cause malfunction in the circuit.
There are no problem with good i.e. average capacitors.
"Audio-Grade" capacitors demand faith in exchange for their advantages.

;)

Hi

My theory for an average good quality cap that it charges and discharges very fast these are hi speed cap usually used in aeronautics

Homi

I just realized my Little bear P3 is running audiophiler caps
Any cost effective local options in 1uF 400V for upgrade
I recall sachu had sent some russian PIO capacitors for my phono kit.
Also seeing some dayton/jantzen caps on diyaudiocart.

what to buy ?
