Hello,

I am trying to build Home Theater for room size 17 feet * 12 feet. I have short listed Denon 1611 - 5.1 and looking for right set of woofer and speakers for selected amplifier. 90% usage for movies.

I am really grateful to you if you can recommend best compatible speakers for selected amplifier.

Thanks in advance!

Please let people know what your budget is. It'll help greatly in recommending speakers which are right for you.

Excellent. My suggestions would be for you to go an audition Wharfedale, Polk and KEF. I'm sure you will find a setup that suits your ears and your pocket. All three companies are brilliant at manufacturing quality budget products.
Another option would be Mission. I have M34is at home and they are good for movies.

I visited a store for demo in Pune today. As per store representative, Denon 1611 + Paradigm CT 70/90 combination is not suitable rather insufficient for my 17" * 12" room size. He recommended Denon 1911 or Harmon Cardon 260/360 with Paradigm monitor 7.

Is it worth buying the recommended combination? Please let me know your views / suggestions.

Thanks!

Hi sajagtap,

Currently, I also have finalised my receiver i.e. AVR Denon 1611. I have auditioned Denon 1311 + Paradigm CT 90 at AVXellence and it was really good.
But yes, my room size is small comapred to yours (15x14) so don't have that much idea if they will suffice your requirement. I would suggest you if you haven't bought any speakers then please go for its audition before you make your mind.

Any other combo if you have auditioned, please do let me know I will have a look on weekend.

Edit: The audition held in the demo room was of size 17 x 17 or 18)

Denon 1611 is a good choice for the room sizes you mentioned. I myself have Denon 1610 in a 22x12 room that also has a 10x10 dining space attached. My speakers are Wharfedale Diamond 9.x and go very well with the 1610. Come over to my place if you want to listen how it sounds in a real living room (as compared to the audition rooms).

Instead of going for the 5.1 packages such as Paradigm/Energy/etc I will suggest you go for the Wharfedale Diamond series. My setup cost me 60K for speakers + Denon 1610 here in Pune, so it fits your budget too. The only thing is I haven't bought a sub yet, but don't really miss the sub because my 9.2 fronts have plenty of bass even while watching movies.

Just give a listen to all available options (which aren't many here in Pune) before you decide.

I Think as suggested by Kittu you should look at Paradigm Cinema 110 it should be sufficient for your room size. May bt the sales rep dint suggest this one coz it will be little more than your budge of 40K.

If you try to listen to above system I am sure you will be able to judge the speaekrs yourself as to whether they will be sufficent for your room size :-)

Regards,
Naren
