Best ever deal for loudspeaker kits.

Heres a question about the cabinet plans
Danny please confirm ( or if others have an idea please confirm)

the Encore bookshlef plans show three choices for the rear baffle
one is with the connectors directly on the rear baffle and two options are with the binding posts cup

now one is a larger cup the other is smaller
Holes have to made inthe cabinet according to the cup size

what cup size will you be shipping us

the big one - 3" dia with a 4.125" cbore
or the smaller one - 2.5inch dia with the 3.525" counterbore

please clarify this ASAP
this is important for cab design

The stock binding post cups are the smaller diameter ones.

@Danny Richie, hope the packing is complete. Awaiting pics of the kits.:licklips:

I have been spending many hours packing these up. Unfortunately I am a one man show when it comes to packing orders.

I have also been slowed some by bad weather that has made it pretty tough to bring items from my storage containers to the packing area. I am getting it done though.

I am about 80% complete on getting everything boxed.

I will take some pics shortly showing everything all boxed up.

If you are talking about any of the X Series products then the crossovers are small enough to easily slide in through a woofer hole after the boxes are built.

hmm
i gathered that from AC forum
i mean how are they affixed?

im sure you dont mean for us to just throw the crossover in

if the crossover PCB has mounting holes the dimesnions of those would help
A screw on locable template can made since it might be difficult to handle a scew driver from the 5 inch woofer hole

how are you guys doing this ?

i am always availble for any help you need
what do you require?

Thanks Ali :)

I meant help to those from Mumbai (including myself) in deciding whether it makes sense for us to get the cabinets built for our speakers and sub woofers ( i have ordered only for a sub) from Chennai get the kits fit in them and get the final product shipped to Mumbai ( as the kits will arrive at chennai first)

Or should we try to have just kits shipped to Mumbai and then hunt for some one who can build cabinets for us.

PS - Mumbai wale mere bhaiyon, what you guys have in mind for cabinets? please share your thoghts !!

Regards,
Naren

They have screw holes on the crossover board. And it is pretty easy to screw them to the bottom of the cabinet through the woofer holes.

When I click the link it does take me to the Google page. But I have never used this service and have no password to input.

Do I have to create an account or something?

If I am not mistaken, you need a gmail account or your email must be configured on google. I dont think it works with other email accounts.

Danny - you can register your email info AT gr-research to create a google account. You do not need a gmail account to access the sheet.

Thanks Ali :)

@naren

one can get the cabs built here no doubt by an MDF crftsman ( there are a couple i know of)
The problem is that (though these guys are seasoned pros working with MDF) i dont think any have "actual speaker cab building experience

Capt is trying to get a builder with some experience
Also he might be able to work out a more reasonable rate due to the larger qty

All said and done - im getting my cabs built here though
Ofcourse, im a building nut and i dont have a budget
Also im not following dannys design- my basic cab design is done by inputs from Mr Jilla
(guys from the mumbai meet might know who he is)
He is even nuttier than me- His cab design is absolutely super - i dont think most commercial mfgs can afford it due to high labour costs - major overkill for this kit and would probably be suited to higher end drivers like the Visatons (that i think he has)

the only issue im gonna face is the finishing ( vinear, laminate paint ???? )
i dunno what to do here nor where to go

if someone is as nutty as me, i can gladly help them out

I have given my opinion some time back itself. My response is also there in the sheet.

P.S: Someone has edited out the original poll results which showed up at the top of the sheet. I have given my opinion again in the table.

Thanks

Hi Capt. I already done from my yahoo id. Also I received same message at gmail id too. Now I have done it from that id too.

Finishing: automotive paint. About 5 layers:-) hand buffed after each layer. I'm thinking deep, deep blue (almost black), lickably glossy.

Are you planning on implementing Khusroo's crazy cab idea? Using MDF?

Wanna make it a wee bit crazier? Why not front and back baffles of 25mm Al? Or perhaps 19 mm ones to cut down a bit on the cost? But it must be H9 gagrade (so called aircraft-grade Al)!
