Will get the panels cut and keep them ready.
The port / Binding post / Driver cutouts we will commence once we have the drivers
Everything else is already in place . ( grill cloth, grill fastners, etc)

Final finish - Aesthetics
We can do once we have the cabinet in place and tested for resonance etc.

Actually, it will be loaded a day or two earlier. It is expected to set sail on 5th June and expected to arrive at Chennai on 6th July.

When u mean speaker grills? Do u mean Grill cloth ...

If yes. I procured it from Singapore, Got a friend carry carry down a couple of meters hyeah:

The ones I came across in Bombay were pretty crappy

I am thinking of selling my item (GR SW 12B $99) sub-woofer driver (only) which I booked along with group-by to whoever is interested at the cost price. The reason is that I have got a good demo piece Jamo sub 200 at a very nice price and I am happy with the sub. I am not feeling the urge to build a sub using this driver currently.

I will keep it if nobody is interested.

Why would you need special permission? Just asking becuase I am also thinking of importing some drivers so wondered if woofers and tweeters need some special clearance.

Now yes getting an IEC is not difficult - but once you get an IEC you have to show the 17000$ entry under your company name in its books - this is a problem

Is there a limit one can import? I thought loudspeakers and their parts were under OGL (open General Licence).

From what I understand the shipping would cost about $1700 for speaker parts worth about $17000. Am I right? I have not followed every post on this long thread. If this is so shipping is about 10% of the consignment cost which is not bad given the consignement's bulk. Add another 30% or so for duties and taxes and a little more for those who have to pay octroi and $1 translates to about $1.4. After the recent devaluation of the Rupee this should work to about Rs. 85-90 per dollar imported.

One option is to use piano wire or wire from bass guitars or many low E electric guitar strings and make something like Sonus Faber does here

If your transaction/import is a commercial one you need an IEC number. I guess commercial is dependent on the size(value) and nature of what you import. For example if you are bringing a container full of personal belongings on transfer of residence it is not commercial, but if you were to import a container full of speaker drivers, and want to do it without an IEC number you may have to justify that the container full of drivers is for personal use.

Yes sure will keep you posted of the same. Cost price is nothing but the actual price that I paid $99 + any custom chrgs after it arrives in India.

Will be eager to get an audition of these speakers once they arrive. So much of time and effort has gone on getting this moving and i am sure everyone following this thread will be equally excited as i am.
