Best Home theater under 25K INR

While importing you should consider shipping charge, customs duty which depends upon the mood of the officer, cost of step down transformer etc. Altogether it is not cost effective to import the htib.

Thanks for the reply Biju.
I have been to home town today evening and had an audition of Onkyo S3300.
They didnt had S3400.
The woofer had some distortion at high volume.
Pretty much impressed with the quality of surround speakers.
Price quoted is 24900(Didnt tried for a bargaining, need to check 3400 also).

Dear Gurus,,

I am a newbie in the AVR / HT systems. Gone through many forums here and found that all Home Theatre systems are such a costly affair. :)

I am not willing to spend more than 30K for everything else than my TV (sony 40" EX720, which I already own) and still want to set up a Home Theatre System.

Based on my research through forums, I am finalising my HTS as below.

1. Media Player: Xtreamer Prodigy 3D Capable player in Sep'11 (say Rs 18k) (which i will use to download and store Bluray/HD movies 2D/3D and play them to my TV)

2. HTS: Sony-DAV-TX210 Home theatre system 5.1 ch (Rs 12K) - ( To which I will route the audio output from media player above, and achieve 5.1 sorround sound. Also I will be able to play my large collection of 5.1 DVDs).

I am taking above decision for the reasons below:
a. Bluray discs are rare and I wont need a bluray player at all. Instead use media player to download all the movies i need)
b. I hope the above setup will give me a fairly good HTS experience.
c. Most of my viewing is TV (Airtel HD Channels) and three movies a week in Movies-Now-HD. When I get Media Player, I would love to watch new movies, downloaded. And there are DVDs freely available.

The above set up will be valid for next three-four years. Is my set up okay? Or I am trying something thats worthless for Rs 30K? Instead, should I spend more like Rs 75K-100K or so and get a much better HTS? What is you opinion?

Please please advice me.

Good u have decided. But, my two cents.

1. Onkyo 3400/ Yamaha 292/294 wud be far better than Sony, Due to 1. Better performance. 2. U wud be able to upgrade the speakers in future and keep the receiver. More Onkyo has HD Audio, So u can enjoy ur Brips with HD audio.

2. If u r set on going for DVD HT, I personaly like Philips over Sony.

HI all of u , this is vishal , your newest member and may be i have posted a big message , hopefully in the right thread.

a. Budget :
my budjet is 25000 + up to 30k including all cables, etc. which includes all speakers, receiver, amp, etc, basically looking at , Philips 3751 or onkyo 3400 hts (HTIB) ; it should be 3D compatible and provision for attaching a blu ray player in future( I apologise for my lack of technical knowledge, so some of my queries may look absurd)
I HAVE recently purchased LG 42PW450 42 inches 3D Plasma TV. MRP Rs. 69990 Zero Margin Price Rs40000/-

b. Listening tastes : my priority is MOVIES 70 : MUSIC 30 , Indian and western instrumental, classical vocal, original sufi, and some fun songs like Dhoom series for parties occasionally.

c. Listening area : MY living room has 20 feet by 20 feet hall with two columns in between , + sliding glass window of 16 feet width by 6 feet height. There are four doors spread opposite the big sliding window. Flooring is vitrified, I have a false ceiling, + dining table of 8 seats rectangular, big sofa set of 3+2+1 very large in size. One drawback is due to huge size , airconditioning is out of my budget . My Distance from screen is adjustable between 12 feet to 15 feet. To my couch .

d. Systems already selected
My shortlisted system are
1) onkyo 3400 hts,
Or
2) one out of the following Philips systems
- Hts 3571 -1200 watt , 2009 model- 19990/- ,
- Hts 5550 25990/- 3d angled speaker, double bass tech , 3d angled, 1200watt,
- Hts 5540 23990 3d angled speaker 1200 watt
- HTS 5530- 16990/- , 3d angled speaker. 1000 watt
