Hi all
Need your recommendations on the best possible sound setup.
CURRENT SETUP:
- Gorgeous 46" LCD Tv in the drawing, but mostly hijacked by family to watch TV shows. Plus a home theater will not make a LOT of difference to them.
- A desktop with Bose desktop speakers in the bedroom. Work with another laptop happens there as well
- the desktop has a Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H motherboard. HDMI out. http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4150#ov
GOAL:
- Watch movies, listen to music. Drawing room would have been preferable, but will end up in the bedroom anyway.
- I see a lot of debate on specs, and what I am getting for the money. but to me, "what i get is what i can hear". If my ears are not good enough - then the extra specs+money are not worth it.
- How great are my ears? Hard to describe. But I heard the philips, sony, samsung HTs which went upto 15k. Not good enough - specially the crispness
- Great sound to me for movies is: Great bass, CRISP sound which my ears can make out. And 'fill' the (small) room
- Great sound to me for music is: Good bass and treble so that all instruments can be heard(especially in new songs, symphonies etc) Might not make a difference for an old Rafi song anyway. But the simulated surround might make a difference
Questions:
- I have heard that a HT is way better than a multimedia speaker system. But I see HTs for 10k and MS for 20k+(eg. Logitech z5500). Would the HTs still be better?
- Is there a way to make use of my Bose speakers and save money? Because they are pretty awesome anyway!
- My Samsung HT(when I was in the US) had a 'Matrix' mode which 'simulated' 5.1 sound from a stereo file. Worked quite well - especially for new songs. Is there a way to do this vis s/w if I use a multimedia speaker system?
Budget:
Willing to go to 30k - if its worth it. My question will always be: "the higher priced one is surely better, but is it worth the price difference?" Am ok to do DIY myself(connections, read up etc) - so assembling components should not be a prob.
Thanks!!!!
