Keep it up Rajiv.Perhaps we can have one unified thread where everyone posts interesting and original links!Tight moderation.Only the best should see the light of the day.
I have an anthology of Mahalia Jackson, where many of the tracks are listed as Mono. The first time I put it on on my stereo,I expected them to sound, average at best. But they sound great!I am not very proficient on technicals.Could you/anyone else fill me in on mono recordings on cd/vinyl and what happens to them when we play them on a two channel.
The basic idea behind the 'mono ad' seems to be that splitting the music for stereo requires mixing the sound and is a step down as far as SQ is concerned.By the same token 2 channel is better than 7.1 and speakers with a full range driver better than one with 3-4 drivers and crossovers???
